Impending Dispossession and the Struggle to Live in East Jerusalem: Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah
Tuesday, December 8th
11:00am EST
Featuring
Mohammed El-Kurd, Resident of Sheikh Jarrah
Fayrouz Sharqawi, Grassroots Al-Quds
and
Lara Friedman, FMEP
Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah are once again on the precipice of a new wave of evictions at the behest of Israeli settlers with the backing of the Israeli government and a green light from Israeli courts. Join FMEP and Just Vision to hear the story of one Sheikh Jarrah family facing imminent eviction, and learn exactly what Palestinians are facing in their struggle to live in East Jerusalem under a mounting and multifaceted settler campaign seeking their mass eviction.
FMEP President Lara Friedman will be joined by Mohammed El-Kurd – who is from Sheikh Jarrah and was profiled in Just Vision’s 2012 short documentary My Neighbourhood – and Fayrouz Sharqawi of Grassroots Al-Quds to discuss what is happening in Sheikh Jarrah today as well as how it fits in to the struggle of Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah and across East Jerusalem.
