Israel/AIPAC in US elex/politics (general)

  • Ansari (D-AZ) 10/28/26: X-post – “Donald Trump happily takes a luxury jet from Qatar while his family cashes in on billion-dollar Gulf deals. Peak corruption. But when a Muslim American like Abdul El-Sayed runs for Senate? Nonstop racism and xenophobia. It’s a desperate distraction because his policies are so unpopular: tariffs, an illegal war in Iran, and ripping away people’s health care. It’s not going to work.”
  • Kean (R-NJ) 10/23/26: X-post – “This is just beyond the pale. ‘Accused’??!! Here’s exactly what happened: terrorists murdered two Israeli soldiers in an ambush and the IDF swiftly neutralized the deadly threat. This reporting is so shameful (it’s done with intention), and this is not an isolated example. You must do better, @NBCNews.”
  • Khanna (D-CA) 10/23/26: X-post – “Jewish Insider writes this as if it’s a gotcha headline. What do Democratic and Republican voters think about our sovereignty. My guess is they stand with me in being for Team America.” Linked to Jewish Insider article, Ro Khanna to urge negotiators to pull U.S.-Israel cooperation provisions from defense bill
  • Emmer (R-MN) 10/23/26: press release – Emmer, Minnesota Republican Delegation Condemn Hasan Piker’s Upcoming Appearance in Minnesota

Israel/AIPAC in US elex/politics (El Sayed/Michigan — including conflating criticism of Israel with antisemitism)

  • Gottheimer (D-NJ) 10/28/26: X-post – “This ad is vile antisemitism, plain and simple. Abdul El-Sayed needs to stop hiding. He must condemn it, and tell his friend to take it down. Scapegoating Jews is one of the oldest tropes in the book, and it has led to violence from the pogroms to the Holocaust to our communities today. Silence isn’t leadership. Abdul needs to call out this hate. No excuses, no hiding.”
  • Rogers (R-MI) 10/27/26: X-post – “Hasan Piker’s uncle is bankrolling anti-Israel ads for @AbdulElSayed. Remember when the mainstream media told you Abdul “distanced himself” from Hasan Piker? Lies. They’re just as close as ever and still too extreme for Michigan.”
  • Slotkin (D-MI) 10/27/26: X-post – “This is a divisive stunt that trades on age-old themes of antisemitism. It blames Israel for all the ills in America. Serious people, who want to win in Michigan, are focused on lowering costs and ending President Trump’s corruption.”
  • Sanders (I-VT) 10/27/26: X-post – “AIPAC is spending $9 million in Michigan to elect Mike Rogers. Meanwhile, according to a Washington Post poll, a majority of voters there — including 61% of independents — want to end or reduce military aid to Israel. LET’S ELECT ABDUL AND END ALL MILITARY AID TO ISRAEL”
  • Goldman (D-NY) 10/26/26: X-post attacking El-Sayed [for an ad not produced by El-Sayed’s campaign, and NOT antisemitic unless you accept the conflation of Jewish identity with support for Israel – conflation that is itself antisemitic] – “If @AbdulElSayed truly means what he says about treating the Jewish community as he would treat his own children, then he would immediately condemn this dangerous ad as outrageously antisemitic and demand that it be taken down. If not, then he’s full of shit.” Also note: 100% correct response from Mehdi Hassan on X: “You’ve said not one word about the nonstop anti-Muslim attacks on El-Sayed from Trump, Rogers, and the rest of the GOP, but you want El-Sayed to condemn and disavow an ad he didn’t make (and that doesn’t say anything about Jews or Judaism.) You’re the one who is full of shit.”
  • Van Hollen (D-MD) 10/23/26: X-post – “AIPAC is spending ANOTHER $9 MILLION to attack Abdul El-Sayed. Why? Because Abdul opposes the Iran war & wants your tax $ to go to your schools & healthcare — not as a blank check to the IDF or other foreign militaries…”

Israel Elex

  • Khanna (D-CA) 10/29/26: X-post w/ video clip – “Netanyahu accused Arab Israeli voters of fraud. Racist. Undemocratic. Whether the opposition forms a coalition with them says a lot about Israel.”
  • Lander (candidate, D-NY) 10/28/26: X-post – “If Gadi Eisenkot and the opposition bloc are remotely serious about getting rid of Netanyahu, and about Israel’s democratic future, they’ll do the obvious, strategic, and non-racist thing of forming a government with the Arab parties. A Jewish-Arab political partnership is necessary to meet this political moment, and for any shared future.”
  • Ramirez (D-IL) 10/27/26: X-post – “Ahead of Israel’s elections and emboldened by Trump, Netanyahu has escalated his attacks on Palestinians—displacing thousands in the West Bank while continuing to bomb Gaza. Americans are tired of their tax dollars being used to displace, murder, and collectively punish millions of Palestinians. We must end our complicity in Netanyahu’s campaign of terror. Not one more dollar. Not one more bomb.”
  • Doggett (D-TX) 10/27/26: X-post – “Netanyahu’s fear mongering and apparent attempts to stoke a larger war only endangers Israelis. Peace and security for Iranians and Palestinians is necessary for Israeli security.” Linked to New York Times 10/26/26 article – Netanyahu Pushed for Attack on Iran Ahead of Israeli Election, Officials Say
  • Gottheier (D-NJ) 10/27/26: X-post – “Israel’s Arab citizens, men and women, are turning out in historic numbers to vote. They can vote, run for office, and serve in the Knesset, rights denied to many Arabs and women across much of the Middle East. Our critical ally in the fight against terror, Israel, is the only democracy in the region, and today shows it.” Also see response from Peter Beinart on X: “Did you criticize Israel’s Central Elections Committee when it tried to ban the Arab parties? Did you criticize Netanyahu when he warned that “Jewish women from the left are leading Arab women voters to the polls”? Did you criticize the Jewish parties that said they would never join an Arab party in government? If not, I’d sit this one out.”
  • Pocan (D-WI) 10/27/26: X-post – “Regardless of the election outcome, Israel MUST end the genocide in Gaza and violence against Palestinians by settlers in the West Bank.”
  • Tlaib (D-MI) 10/26/26: X-post – “Regardless of which war criminal becomes prime minister, Palestinians living under Israeli apartheid will continue to face genocide, land theft, and erasure. We cannot accept lies, excuses, or half-measures from our leaders. We must impose a full arms embargo and sanctions until Palestine is free.”

Gaza & West Bank

  • Balint (D-VT) 10/28/26: X-post – “A U.N. human rights panel has now, for a second time, found that Israel is committing genocidal acts in Gaza, this time doing so specifically since the ‘ceasefire’ has been in place. They also say that Israel is committing crimes against humanity in the West Bank. When we have a conclusive body of evidence in front of us, as we do here, I feel that I, as an elected official, have a moral responsibility to speak out. If our government still will not do so as a whole, that responsibility is even more important. This is why I originally did so in September 2025 and why so many Americans have come to the same conclusion on their own. My grandfather was murdered on a death march from Mauthausen concentration camp in the last few weeks of World War II – my family knows the impact antisemitism can have when left unchecked firsthand. We must continue to stand up with a clear voice against the frightening rise of antisemitism we’re seeing at home and around the globe. We must speak out against antisemitism and hold Israel accountable for its actions. We can do both. We must do both. I want both a safe and secure Israel and a safe, secure independent Palestinian state. The fact is that the actions of the current Israeli government are not only not keeping people safe but are instead further isolating Israel on the world stage. In this moment, speaking truth and demanding change are the first steps on the path forward.”
  • Van Hollen (D-MD) 10/26/26: X-post w/ video clip – “Israeli settlers & forces are driving even more Palestinians from their homes on the West Bank. The U.S. must end its complicity in the injustice of the occupation and demand accountability for the 9 Americans killed. Enough is enough.”
  • Tlaib (D-MI) 10/23/26: “The genocidal apartheid state promises to commit more war crimes with U.S. weapons and tax dollars. This is the unbearable everyday reality for Palestinians, and it’s only getting worse. Block the bombs. Dismantle apartheid. Free Palestine.”

Free Speech/Right to Protest for Palestinian Lives/Rights; Conflating Criticism of Israel w/ Antisemitism

  • House Education & Workforce Committee (GOP) 10/27/26: X-post – “In November, Columbia barred Mahmoud Khalil from campus over public safety concerns. Tonight, two university centers are rolling out the welcome mat for his book signing. What changed? Columbia owes Jewish students and the campus community answers.”

Egypt

  • Murphy (D-CT) 10/27/26: X-thread – “1/ This isn’t front page news, but it’s important. For years, Congress has said no taxpayer money to Egypt to help them repress free speech. But Trump ignored Congress. And a disaster resulted for the Egyptian people. Soon, maybe disaster for us. 2/ On Oct 1, Trump handed over $320 million, greenlighting Egypt’s brutal tactics. The ensuing crackdown happened fast. First, the entire newsroom staff of Matsadaash, one of Egypt’s few remaining independent media outlets, was disappeared and tortured. 3/ I was on the Senate floor in 2023 talking about the government’s desire to destroy Matsadaash – because the journalists there were uncovered massive corruption schemes within the government. Here’s my speech.  4/ Next, the Egyptian government concocted new charges against the editor-in-chief of another independent newspaper. This is an all-out campaign to silence anyone who dares call out abuse or the Egyptian military’s mismanagement of the economy. 5/ Trump gives a free pass to regimes rounding up journalists doing their job because he fantasizes about doing it himself. That’s why we need to call out what he’s doing in Egypt. Because Trump wants to normalize attacks on the press abroad so he can get away with it at home.” Linked to articles: AP 10/1/26: Rubio waives human rights restrictions to release $320 million in military aid to Egypt; NBC News 10/2/26: Egypt arrests entire editorial team of one of the country’s few independent media; Mada Maar 10/22/26: Mada Masr Editor-in-Chief Lina Attalah referred to trial on charges of running unlicensed website
  • Beyer (D-VA) 10/27/26: X-post – “In a massive escalation of its crackdown on independent media, Egyptian authorities today ordered the closure of Mada Masr, Egypt’s leading independent news outlet. This is a brazen attack on press freedom and an attempt to silence one of the last major independent voices in Egypt. This comes on the heels of the arrest of the entire newsroom from Matsadaash, another independent news outlet, just a few weeks ago. Egypt must reverse this decision, release all wrongfully detained journalists, and end its assault on the free press.”

Islamophobia in US elex/politics (incl RFK Jr screed demeaning all Arabs worldwide)

  • Foushee (D-NC) 10/28/26: X-post – “The outward racism and xenophobia of the Trump Administration is a stain on our nation. This degradation of Arab people is part of Republicans continued efforts to divide our country and spread fear across our communities. We must denounce these attacks for what they are: racist and disgusting. This rhetoric has no place in our country.”
  • Self (R-TX) 10/28/26: X-post – ““The ‘red-green alliance’ between the radical Left and the Islamic movement in France is threefold: electoral, programmatic, and personal, Pesey said. He noted especially a rise in leftist leaders whose children convert to Islam. He and Maréchal both observed, however, that these alliances don’t last. ‘It may, and it will, finish like in Iran, like Lebanon,’ Pesey said. ‘In all these countries where you see the red and green alliance, the red don’t last very long—they’re the first on the list of the green.’”
  • Tlaib (D-MI) 10/27/26: X-post – “RFK Jr.’s a disgusting racist. We all know that. But as Anti-Arab and Islamophobic hate rises, and as this vile rhetoric puts people in danger, we must all speak out louder than the hate. We will not let these fascists win.”
  • Jayapal (D-WA) 10/27/26: X-post – “Republicans are turning to anti-Muslim bigotry because they have no plan to address the rising costs that they’ve made worse. This playbook is so tired and despicable. Muslim Americans and all of us deserve better.”
  • Murphy (D-CT) 10/27/26: X-post – “I really think everyone needs to pay attention to this cordinated campaign to delegimatize Muslim Americans – not just as citizens but as humans. These increasingly hysterical attacks are a prelude to Republicans bringing us to a very, very dark place after the election.” Responding to post w/ video of RFK Jr. attacking Arabs worldwide: “RFK: ‘There’s five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don’t produce science. They don’t win the Novel Prize. They don’t win the Fields Prize. They don’t win the Wolf Prize. They don’t produce literature.’” [a statement that in every aspect is factually incorrect – if facts actually matter…]
  • Mace (R-SC) 10/23/26: X-post – “America has every right to decide who walks through our front door. …Our Third World Immigration Moratorium Act halts entry into the United States for nationals of nearly 40 countries of identified concern, along with anyone traveling on Palestinian Authority documents…”

Iran

  • Murphy (D-CT) 10/29/26: X-post w/ video clip- “Trump is reportedly planning to restart war with Iran after the election. Some of us have been briefed on the war plan. And while I cannot disclose any details, I can say this: the plan is insane. It will not achieve objectives and will set off a new cycle of escalation.”

[Re attacks on El-Sayed for allegedly antisemitic ad, me on X: “Watching the hysteria re the Michigan ad, note: the claim that linking Israel aid w/ US economic woes fuels antisemitism/threatens Jewish safety comes largely from people who also DEMAND the conflation of Jewish identity w/ support for Israel as a matter of US law/ policy.“

Israel/AIPAC  in US elex & politics – Mississippi

  • Mississippi Public Broadcasting 10/28/26: Q&A Ty Pinkins, an Independent, top issues and why he’s still in the race [“One of other problems that I have is the underlying issue with all of these people coming to Mississippi is an organization called AIPAC, A-I-P-A-C, the pro-Israel organization. Cindy Hyde-Smith has accepted nearly $500,000 from AIPAC, a half a million dollars. She’s bought. It’s gone. But the Democrats’ hands are not clean in this thing either. Every single United States senator that’s come to Mississippi to campaign on behalf of the Democrats, Scott Colom, has accepted money from AIIPAC [sic]. Chuck Schumer, who initially recruited him, $1.5 million from AIIPAC [sic].“]

Israel/AIPAC  in US elex & politics – North Carolina

  • The Daily Tar Heel 10/2y/26: Editorial: Foushee seemingly turns a new political leaf, but we still must hold her accountable [“Despite pledging to reject AIPAC contributions this election cycle, Foushee was aided by $600,000 in independent spending from the Article One PAC in February. The PAC is affiliated with a fundraising committee backed by billionaire Robert Granieri, a major donor to AIPAC’s super PAC. While this spending was not a direct campaign contribution, it raises uncomfortable questions about Foushee’s ability to distance herself from the wealthy political interests that helped elect her.”]

Israel/AIPAC  in US elex & politics – Ohio

  • Haaretz 10/27/26: Can Republican Scandals Give Democrats an Opening in Red Ohio? [“AIPAC-linked donors gave Husted’s campaign $837,918.93 in gross contributions through September 30, according to TiffinOhio.net’s review of federal filings. Only $10,000 came from AIPAC’s political action committee. The remaining donations, just under $828,000, were routed through AIPAC’s fundraising operation and included a $5,000 contribution from SUN PAC.”]
