The violent events last weekend in Charlottesville, VA were tragic reminders of the grave threat posed by the ideology of white supremacy. People across the country are showing up in solidarity, recognizing the urgent need to confront emboldened racist forces, and engaging in critical conversations around power and oppression.

Education is a critical part of this confrontation, which is why we developed the “Together We Rise” curriculum. The curriculum offers resources to strengthen our analysis and advance the collective struggle for liberation.

A key part of this political education is examining how state institutions, like the law, entrench and perpetuate these dangerous ideologies of supremacy. What do these institutions tell us about whose lives and rights matter?

Next Thursday, join our lunchtime webinar exploring the myth of citizenship in nation states built on exclusion:

WEBINAR: Debunking the Myth of Citizenship
Thursday, August 24 at 11am PST/2pm EST

Together with partners from the Adalah Justice Project, The Red Nation, Black4Palestine, and the Jews of Color and Sephardi/Mizrahi Caucus, we will discuss the legal, political, and economic construction of citizenship in Israel and the United States.

Panelists will consider key historical and constitutional moments in the development of citizenship in Israel and the U.S. They will reflect on the continued impact of the racist definitions of who is or can become a citizen, and how targeted communities experience citizenship differently. We will also share resources so you can continue these conversations in your community!
