He told WAFA that occupation soldiers escorted bulldozers into an area of the village where they leveled large tracts of lands and paved a 10 meter–long road for settlers leading to the illegal colonial settlement of Avni Hefetz. He added that this land, which amounts to 600 dunums in area, has been a regular target of the settlers and Israeli army and any attempt by Palestinians to reclaim their land and plant it was fiercely attacked by the settlers and soldiers, who often sabotage the work and steal equipment used in the work. Analysis/Commentary

Annexation Isn’t Dead. A Desperate Trump Could Bring It Back to Life.,

“Until now, Trump has paid little attention to the issue, as crisis after crisis has washed over the United States, laying bare the failures of his leadership and imperiling his reelection. He left it to Kushner to arrange the parameters of U.S. support for annexation, but there is no evidence the issue is on the minds of most American voters. But as the election heads into the home stretch, Trump’s interests could change. Specifically, as polls show him continually trailing Biden by 5 to 8 percentage points, including in most swing states, and as a large majority of Americans say they disapprove of his management of the coronavirus pandemic, Trump’s best chance of eking out a narrow victory is to boost enthusiasm among his base so that they turn out to vote in disproportionate numbers. There is scant evidence that Jewish voters, even those who might vote for Trump, are enthusiastic about annexation. But the calculation might be different for a much larger portion of Trump’s base, evangelical Christians.”

Why Israel’s Political Odd Couple Could Be Headed for an Early Divorce,

“[Netanyahu] is not happy with the marriage, and that he has to rotate [the premiership] in a year from now. There’s a competition with Gantz on everything. He has a backseat driver, and he can’t stand it,” said Aviv Bushinsky, a former spokesperson for Netanyahu. “They don’t trust each other. They don’t work well together. It’s horrific.”

The two state solution is fading. It would take a miracle to revive it,

“But this miracle will not occur and neither Netanyahu – nor Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz– would agree to the parameters of this deal. No Palestinian leader would accept less than this and therefore, no negotiations will take place in the foreseeable future.”
