3. Hearings & Markups
None.
4. Selected Members on the Record
2nd Anniversary of 10/7/23 Hamas Attack on Israel
It feels like almost every member of both the House and Senate made a statement or posted on social media to mark the 2nd anniversary of the 10/7/23 Hamas attack — including lots of members who have notably had nothing to say about the ongoing massacres, destruction, displacement, ethnic cleansing, and GENOCIDE that Israel has been carrying out EVERY DAY SINCE that attack through the present. To see what a specific member said, check member websites and social media accounts. For one example of the kind of thing out there, see this gem from Grassley (R-IA), “I get confronted by Palestinian sympathizers walking the halls of congress who want to talk about deaths of ppl in Gaza I remind them that Hamas is responsible for all the deaths in Gaza This never would hv happened if Hamas hadn’t invaded the sovereign state of Israel” — exemplifying the politically popular hasbara framing that holds, in effect, that “nothing justifies the Hamas 10/7/23 attack on Israel [and anyone suggesting that Israel’s Gaza policies pre-10/7/23 had anything to do with those attacks is clearly a supporter of or apologist of terrorism], but 10/7/23 justifies anything/everything Israel has done or will do to Gaza and its population.”
Trump peace efforts & “peace plan”
Many, many members of both the House and Senate are making statements or posting on social media about the announced US-backed ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas — the overwhelming majority of which make clear that really the only thing most members of Congress care about are Israeli concerns (i.e, return of hostages, defeat/destruction of Hamas), with at best the barest mention of Palestinian concerns (i.e., ending or at least pausing the destruction and genocide that Israel has been wreaking on every man, woman, and child in Gaza every day for the past 2 years). To see what a specific member said, check member websites and social media accounts.

He should be given a Nobel Peace Prize 3. He should be memorialized on Mt. Rushmore This is the least our country can do to adequately steward the dynamism and prosperity Donald Trump has delivered. I have introduced a bill granting him a third term opportunity and sent letters to advance his recognition.” [includes text of resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution to enable Trump to have a 3rd term as president]

- Crenshaw (R-TX) 10/8/25: X-post – “The President deserves serious recognition here. Please raise your voice to make this happen.”
The Flotilla
- Gomez (D-CA) 10/8/25: Gomez Demands Immediate Action to Protect and Free Detained Constituent, Journalist Emily Wilder
- Gallego (D-AZ) 10/7/25: X-post – “I just got off the phone with Ambassador Huckabee. I’m relieved to share that Tucson native Logan Hollarsmith, along with all other Americans detained in Israel after the flotilla interception, has been released. They’re safe in Jordan and will be on their way home soon. Thank you to everyone who worked to ensure their release and safe return.”
- Khanna (D-CA) 10/7/25: X-post – “I heard from David’s family that he is in Jordan and released. So are all Americans who were on the flotilla. They will be sleeping through the night, and their flights home are arranged for the morning. Thank you to the thousands of activists and journalists across our nation for your advocacy.”
- Pelosi (D-CA) 10/6/25: “Logan Hollarsmith, an American citizen from San Francisco who served as captain of a Gaza-bound humanitarian aid vessel, is reported to be among those now detained in an Israeli prison. I call on the Israeli government to immediately grant full consular access, provide transparent evidence of any charges, and guarantee that proper legal rights are extended. The right of U.S. citizens to due process and fair treatment under international law must be protected. I stand with the family of Logan Hollarsmith in demanding clarity, accountability, and the safe return of all detainees to their homes. The international community must redouble efforts to deliver aid in Gaza, protect human life, and pursue a just and lasting peace that ensures security for both Israelis and Palestinians.“
- Castro (D-TX) 10/6/25: “I am deeply concerned about reports of mistreatment of the American citizens detained by Israel for participating in the Gaza aid flotilla. I urge the Israeli government to release the U.S. citizens and ensure their safe return to the United States, and the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem to continue consular visits with detained American citizens and to work toward their immediate release.“
- Doggett (D-TX) 10/6/25: X-post – “To the many concerned about Austinite Greg Stoker, a participant in the flotilla intercepted by the Israeli Navy as it attempted to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, our office has been communicating since Thursday with US officials in Washington and Israel as well as the Israelis. Greg and other participants were just safely flown out of Israel“
- Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) 10/6/25: X-post – “Last week, I wrote to @SecRubio urging protection of Americans on the Sumud Flotilla. Since then, Israel has detained dozens of activists, including Americans, for trying to feed starving Gazans. This is unacceptable. @SecRubio you must negotiate their safe return home.”
- Doggett (D-TX) 10/6/25: X-post – “Those aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla, like Austinite Greg Stoker, drew critical attention to Netanyahu’s endless war by starvation with their attempt to reach Gaza with humanitarian aid. After working to facilitate Greg’s release from Israeli custody, I look forward to welcoming him safely home to Austin tomorrow.”
- Markey (D-MA) 10/6/25: X-post – “Now that the members of the Global Sumud Flotilla have been taken into custody by Israel, Netanyahu should release them as soon as possible without harm. These are peaceful protesters who were delivering much needed humanitarian aid to Gaza.”
- Van Hollen (D-MD) 10/5/25: X-post w/ video clip – “On Friday I spoke with relatives of Americans on the Gaza aid flotilla who were being detained by Netanyahu’s government. Ambassador Huckabee says his highest duty is to protect Americans abroad but has done virtually nothing to return them. He needs to do his job.”
- Sanders (I-VT) 10/5/25: X-post – “Children are starving in Gaza because of Israeli government policies. Hundreds of people from around the world organized a civilian flotilla to try to deliver food. Israel arrested them. The United States must demand the immediate release of all detained Americans.“
- Van Hollen (D-MD) 10/5/25: X-post – “The Israeli Minister in charge of prisons has called for the starvation of civilians in Gaza yet he’s the one calling the flotilla participants — including American veterans — trying to feed starving civilians in Gaza “terrorists.” Outrageous and unacceptable.“
- Booker (D-NJ) 10/5/25: X-post – “My office has asked the State Department to ensure that U.S. citizens and New Jerseyans from the Global Sumud Flotilla who were detained in Israel are provided consular services, treated with dignity, and released quickly.“
- Khanna (D-CA) 10/4/25: X-post – “.@netanyahu, there is a red line with the American people. Don’t mess with our citizens. Release David Adler now.“
- Khanna (D-CA) 10/4/25: X-post – “I just spoke with Laura Adler, David’s sister. They have not had contact with David, a Jewish American citizen part of the flotilla, since Oct 1. They want his release from Ketziot prison in Israel, a phone call with him & for an American embassy official to visit him. I will be leading a delegation letter to Rubio & the Israeli Ambassador on Monday & hope every colleague, particularly every California member, will sign. Our government must stand up for an American citizen’s fair treatment and release.“
- Ruiz (D-CA) 10/3/25: X-post w/ video clip – “I’m pleased to report the news about Geraldine’s safe return to the U.S. from Israel as soon as tomorrow.”
Free Speech/Protest
- Walberg (R-MI) 10/7/25: ““Two years after Hamas’ despicable terrorist attack, Jewish students and faculty members across the United States are still experiencing unprecedented antisemitic harassment. Hamas’ brutal butchery on October 7 left a deep scar on Jewish people worldwide, reopening wounds for a community that continues to experience history’s oldest hatred. Yet instead of resoundingly condemning this atrocity, radical professors and K-12 educators chose to spread antisemitism. Today, students of all ages are being indoctrinated in hateful ideology and are encouraged to harass their Jewish and pro-Israel peers. This is wrong. Ultimately, those entrusted with leadership have failed to address the disease of antisemitism taking root. Their inaction not only betrays their duty to protect students—it violates the Civil Rights Act and leaves Jewish teachers and students feeling unsafe. Time and again, my Committee has shown it will uphold the law and combat antisemitic discrimination. Republicans will continue to protect Jews on campus, especially as education bureaucrats fail to do so.”

- Van Hollen (D-MD) 10/5/25: X-post- “I’m glad Van Jones apologized for his sick joking about dead kids in Gaza. But the problem goes deeper: he spread Netanyahu propaganda that the mass killings of civilians in Gaza—including 20K+ kids—is Iranian fake news. It’s not the students and young people who are fooled. It’s Van Jones.“
