In the context of the House kerfuffle/debacle over $1 billion in supplemental funding for Israel for Iron Dome – that took place Sept 21-23, there were too many press releases, tweets, and floor statements to include them all in the weekly Round-Up. So I’ve compiled them all here. Please note that floor statements (copied below) can all be found in the Congressional Record, here. Full analysis of the debacle surrounding the Iron Dome Supplemental can be found in the 9/24/21 edition of the Round-Up.
These statements document how the supplemental funding for Iron Dome funding was treated by Republicans and many Democrats as an opportunity to grandstand not merely in support of Israel, but in support of Israeli impunity — with members treating even massive supplemental U.S. aid for Israel as an Israeli entitlement that shall not be questioned; treating those colleagues who differ with them on this matter with open contempt; and subjecting those who dared to object (even just in terms of the process) or speak out in disagreement with ever-escalating attacks equating such disagreement with antisemitism and support for terrorism.

Aderholt (R-AL) 9/21: Tweet – “The Iron Dome is an essential defense system that has saved many lives from rockets launched by terrorists. Pulling funding from this is simply dangerous, and it leaves our ally behind. I will always stand with Israel”
Allen (R-GA) 9/22: Tweet – “Last night House Democrats rammed through their Continuing Resolution for short-term government funding. Pelosi continues to make a mockery of the legislative process and play games with government funding. If this wasn’t bad enough, they blocked funding for our ally Israel!”
Allred (D-TX) 9/23: Tweet – “The safety of both Israelis and Palestinians depends on the continued success of the Iron Dome. The U.S. has a vital role to play in the region, and I was proud to join a strong bipartisan majority to vote to fund this critically important defensive program today.”

Babin (R-TX) 9/23: Tweet – “Are you alright, @AOC? If it makes you this upset that Israeli neighborhoods will be safe from Hamas and Hezbollah rockets, you’re probably in the wrong line of work. Maybe @Amazon is hiring in your district?” [mocking AOC for appearing to be upset on the House floor, allegedly over the Iron Dome vote; the linked video suggests the timing has nothing to do with that vote]

Babin (R-TX) 9/22: Tweet – “The Left: Throws money at climate change but deserts Israel. Claims to care about women’s rights but refuses to secure an open border where women are raped daily. Is pro-choice unless we’re talking about taking a #COVID19 vaccine. The hypocrisy is endless.”
Babin (R-TX) 9/22: Tweet – “A “YEA” vote strips Israel of funding for the Iron Dome – EVERY SINGLE HOUSE DEM voted against Israel’s safety. To the Dems: Next time a terrorist rocket claims the lives of civilians and children, know that their blood is on YOUR hands! Take a look at the list”

Bacon (R-NE) 9/23: Tweet – “I’m a ‘yes’ vote to fund Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense that defends citizens from Hamas’ rocket attacks. Speaker Pelosi messed up by caving to progressives and pulling these funds from the debt ceiling and CR bill. Our ally deserves better.”

Barr (R-KY) 9/21: Tweets (compiled) – “House Dems corrupted the budget process to pave the way for $3.5 trillion of massive new spending to impose a cradle-to-grave socialist state that will bury future generations with mountains of debt. I refuse to be part of this partisan betrayal of the American taxpayers and hard-working Kentuckians that I was elected to represent in Congress. This government funding proposal also strips $1 billion in funding for the Iron Dome, which protects Israel from missile strikes from terrorist groups like Hamas. I fundamentally reject this, and I will fight to ensure that the U.S. always stands with Israel. My full statement” Statement.

Brady (R-TX) 9/22: Tweet – “”Posture all you want on your priorities…but you’re going to vote for this. By the way, have you met Nancy?” Like Israel, secure border, fighting terrorism – moderates not tolerated in #HouseDemocrats. #GetInLineDemocrats”

Buchson (R-IN) 9/21: Tweet – “House Democrats have pulled the $1 billion in funding for the Israel Iron Dome defense system from the continuing resolution funding bill. Our ally Israel was recently attacked by over 4,000 rockets fired by Hamas. Iron Dome saved lives. This decision is appalling.”

Bravo to my colleague @RepTedDeutch for standing up to the hateful comments from other members of the Democratic Party.” [Linked to video of Deutch ranting against Tlaib, D-MI, for daring to call Israel and “apartheid” state, calling it antisemitism]
Cammack (R-FL) 9/21: Tweet – “The Iron Dome is an integral part of protecting Israeli citizens, making daily life possible. Instead, our Democrat colleagues would rather defund critical self-defense systems, while sending money to the Taliban. Seems on brand for @HouseDemocrats.”
Carl (R-AL) 9/21: Tweet – “Unbelievable. I’m proud to #StandWithIsrael”
Carter (R-TX) 9/23: Tweet – “The United States must always stand with our ally, Israel. I strongly support H.R.5323 which provides funding for Israel’s missile defense system, the Iron Dome, in the effort to protect and defend our ally. #StandwithIsrael”

Castro (D-TX) 9/23: Interviewed by Mehdi Hasan, “‘I wouldn’t say that anybody who opposes [Iron Dome] investment is an antisemite. I think that’s definitely an overreach. I don’t believe [@RashidaTlaib] is. This is policy that should be debated.’ @JulianCastro, to me, on Ted Deutch’s attack on Tlaib”
Cheney (R-WY) 9/21: Tweet – “House Democrats have canceled funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system. They are abandoning Israel, one of America’s strongest allies; placating the anti-Israel left; and emboldening the terrorists firing deadly rockets at innocent civilians.”
Cicilline (D-RI) 9/21: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “Israel has the right to defend itself against any assault on its sovereignty and its people. This funding will help replenish Israel’s Iron Dome to safeguard the Israeli people from Hamas rocket fire and other terrorist threats. It is unfortunate, Mr. Speaker, that my colleagues on the other side of the aisle have decided to politicize such an important and serious issue even after the recent deadly hostilities between Israel and Hamas. They tried to play political games with something as deadly serious as Iron Dome by claiming we should have included this in a different vehicle, which every single Republican voted against. Too much of a risk. Today’s vote is a reminder that the United States will always stand with our ally Israel, and we have always supported funding for Iron Dome, we will continue to do so. Enough with the politics. Israel wants bipartisan support. This political gamesmanship must end. Today’s vote will help do that.”
Cicilline (D-RI) 9/21: Tweet – “Iron Dome is critical to the safety and security of Israel. The highly effective defense system has saved the lives of both Israelis and Palestinians. In May, Iron Dome intercepted 90% of the rockets from Hamas. Make no mistake. House Democrats will always fund Iron Dome.”

Cotton (R-AR) 9/21: Cotton Statement on Democrats’ Plan to Block Iron Dome Funding (tweet)
Cotton (R-AR) 9/21: Tweet – “Shameful that radical liberals in Congress seek to deny our ally Israel equipment to defend itself from terrorist missiles.”
Cotton (R-AR) 9/21: Tweet – “Why did the Democrats just strip out funding to support Israel’s Iron Dome? Because the Iron Dome works. For Ilhan Omar and the left, saving Israeli lives from terror attacks is unacceptable.”
Cotton (R-AR) 9/21: Tweet – “Shameful that radical liberals in Congress seek to deny our ally Israel equipment to defend itself from terrorist missiles.”
Cotton (R-AR) 9/21: Tweet – “Democrats just blocked my bill to designate the Taliban a Foreign Terrorist Organization. This coming only hours after House Democrats sided with Hamas to block replenishment of Israel’s Iron Dome. Banner day for Democrats.”
Cotton (R-AR) 9/21: Statement – ““On the same day that President Biden pledged to stand with our allies at the United Nations, members of his own party want to deny Israel the equipment to defend its citizens from terrorist missiles. Despite their best efforts, the United States will support Israel’s right to defend itself and fund the Iron Dome.”
Crist (D-FL) 9/23: Tweet – “Israel is our ally and friend – and the Iron Dome is critical to Israel’s defense. Proud to vote today to replenish the Iron Dome to protect Israel and its people from terrorist attacks.”
Crist (D-FL) 9/22: Tweets (compiled) – “Iron Dome is a critical defensive tool protecting our ally Israel and its citizens from terrorist attacks. As a Member of the Appropriations Committee who has successfully helped secure billions for Iron Dome, I know that Israel’s security also helps keep my constituents safe. I’m disappointed that no Republicans were willing to vote to prevent a government shutdown, pay the national debt they helped incur, and provide emergency funding to help victims of recent national disasters. The fact is, Iron Dome has support from the overwhelming majority of my Democratic colleagues, and had Republicans been willing to put politics aside, Iron Dome funding would still be in there. Nevertheless, I appreciate House Leadership’s commitment to getting this much needed Iron Dome funding through as soon as possible. We will always be there for our ally and friend.”
Curtis (R-UT) 9/23: Tweet – “Today, I voted in favor of replenishing the Iron Dome defensive system. Earlier this year, we witnessed the indiscriminate launch of rockets at civilian populations in Israel, of which 90% were blocked by the Iron Dome. This technology works and I am proud to support it.”
Daines (R-MT) 9/22: Tweet – “In yet another pursuit of their radical agenda, House Dems voted to cut critical funding for Israel’s Iron Dome—a defense system that protects innocent lives from terrorist attacks. This is morally indefensible.”
Davis (R-IL) 9/23: Tweet – “When you hear the words #IronDome, remember this image. Iron Dome is a defensive weapon we developed with Israel, our #1 ally in the Middle East. It has saved countless lives in Israel, including American lives, from rocket attacks. Proud to support Iron Dome & #StandWithIsrael.”
Davis (R-IL) 9/21: Tweet – “Democrats are abandoning our #1 ally in the Middle East, Israel, and empowering Hamas terrorists to launch more rocket attacks.”
DeLauro (D-CT) 9/23: Tweet – “Congress’ support for the security of Israel, as part of a Middle East with lasting peace, is ironclad. Watch Chair @rosadelauro present legislation providing $1 billion to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome:”
DeLauro (D-CT) 9/23: Tweet – “Congress’ support for the security of Israel, as part of a Middle East with lasting peace, is ironclad. Watch Chair @rosadelauro present legislation providing $1 billion to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome:” Linked to clip of DeLauro speaking on the House floor. Also see statement from House Appropriations Committee (Democrats)
DeLauro (D-CT) 9/23: Floor statement in support of HR 5323: “Mr. Speaker, I rise in support of the Iron Dome Supplemental Appropriations Act, which provides $1 billion in funding for Iron Dome,
Israel’s short-range missile defense system. In May, during the latest period of increased violence between Israel and Hamas, more than 4,000 rockets were launched from Gaza. Using radar technology and missiles to track and destroy incoming rockets, the Iron Dome intercepted over 90 percent of the rockets that would have landed in civilian-populated areas. This system, with help from Congress’ funding, saved thousands of lives in that month alone. Under the 2016 memorandum of understanding between the United States and Israel, the United States is committed to replenishing the Iron Dome so Israel can continue to defend itself from attack and protect its citizens. With the funding in this bill, the Iron Dome would continue to protect millions of civilians. Let me repeat, this funding, as the bill language clearly states, is limited to a system that is entirely defensive. And there is no greater demonstration of the defensive nature of this system than the videos showing the Iron Dome’s interception capacity. Mr. Speaker, the United States has long been committed to the objective of a two-state solution, Israelis and Palestinians living
side by side in a lasting peace. The legislation before us ensures that Israel can fully defend all its citizens, a necessary condition for lasting peace. In the State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs funding bill passed by the House over the summer, we provided funding to help meet the humanitarian and development needs of the Palestinian people, another requirement for lasting peace. Peace must always be our mission. It will allow Israelis and Palestinians to reconcile their differences and heal their many wounds. But only through peace can this reconciliation and healing even begin to be achieved. Mr. Speaker, this bill demonstrates that Congress’ commitment to our friend and ally Israel is bipartisan and ironclad. It fulfills our moral imperative to protect the lives of innocent civilians and helps build the foundations for peace.”
DeLauro (D-FL) 9/23: Closing statement on floor on HR 5323 – “My Republican colleague’s words ring hollow. What are the facts? With or without the Iron Dome funding, every single House Republican refused to support the continuing resolution. And, I might add, were proud of
their opposition to the continuing resolution. But this, my friends, is not the first time. My Republican colleagues have voted against USAID to Israel three times thus far in the 2022 appropriations bills. Over and over again they say “no” to Israel. I say to them, stop politicizing the U.S. support of Israel. Stop your empty, political gimmicks, such as your motion to recommit yesterday. The democratic record is clear on our support for the U.S.-Israel defense relationship. We are standing up for it today, we have stood up for it in the past, and we will continue to do that. Mr. Speaker, this bill provides the necessary funds for Iron Dome to continue to protect Israeli citizens which furthers the goal of a lasting peace in the Middle East.”
Demings (R-FL) 9/21: Tweet – “The Iron Dome is critical to Israel’s safety and security, and directly tied to our safety and security. Delays in funding are unacceptable. It should not be removed from this week’s bill and we should pass it immediately.” and “Don’t let Republicans fool you. Being tough and playing tough on this issue are two different things — every one of them was going to vote NO on this critical funding bill. They only care about scoring political points.”
DesJarlais (R-TN) 9/23: Tweet – “Chuck Fleischmann is a leader. Thank you for standing up against anti-Semitism and Democratic hypocrisy. Rep. Tlaib’s remarks are disgusting and unAmerican. We must stand up and protect our Jewish allies. I fully support funding an iron dome for Israel.”
Deutch (D-FL) 9/23: Floor statement attacking Tlaib’s (D-MI) floor statement on HR 5323 – “Mr. Speaker, I have a speech about how important it is for us to stand up against terror and the terror strikes against Israel launched by the terrorist group Hamas from Gaza–4,500 rockets that IronDome helped to stop. And I have a speech that is all about how important it is for us to replenish that. But, Mr. Speaker, I cannot–I cannot–allow one of my colleagues to stand on the floor of the House of Representatives and label the Jewish democratic State of Israel an apartheid state. I reject it. Today, this Caucus, this body, the House of Representatives will overwhelmingly stand with our ally, the State of Israel, in replenishing this defensive system. If you believe in human rights, if you believe in saving lives, Israeli lives and Palestinian lives, I say to my colleague who just besmirched our ally, then you will support this legislation…Mr. Speaker, we can have an opportunity to debate lots of issues on the House floor, but to falsely characterize the State of Israel is consistent with those–let’s be clear–it is consistent with those who advocate for the dismantling of the one Jewish state in the world. When there is no place on the map for one Jewish state, that is anti-Semitism, and I reject that. I stand in support of this important legislation. I thank the Speaker, the majority leader, and the chairwoman for bringing this forward, and I urge every one of my colleagues to stand in support of this.”
Deutch (D-FL) 9/23: Tweet – “The U.S. House overwhelmingly voted to save civilian lives by replenishing Iron Dome. The vote was 420-9. Lies about Israel were rejected. Support for our ally was reinforced. The United States stands with Israel.”
Deutch (D-FL) 9/21: Tweet – “Iron Dome is a defensive system used by one of our closest allies to save civilian lives. It needs to be replenished because thousands of rockets were fired by the Hamas terrorists who control Gaza. Consider this my pushing back against this decision.”
Deutch (D-FL) 9/21: Tweet – ““So to target Iron Dome now means the issue isn’t a genuine concern over the system, but rather the desire to attack something – anything – related to the State of Israel; it’s devoid of substance and irresponsible.” Smart thread from my thoughtful colleague
@RepSlotkin”
Deutch (D-FL) 9/21: Tweet – “Tonight I urged House leaders to bring stand-alone Iron Dome funding to the floor. I’m pleased Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Hoyer and Chair DeLauro understand the importance of providing lifesaving missile defense assistance to our ally Israel & have made this commitment.”
Diaz-Balart (R-FL) 9/21: Tweet – “Pelosi and the squad strip funding for the Iron Dome, a system that saved countless lives in #Israel and arguably stopped a larger conflict in the Middle East.”
Donalds (R-FL) 9/22: Tweet – “Rep. Donalds said Pelosi has capitulated to the far-left, which will further endanger Israel. ‘This will put Israel in danger & will further embolden countries that wish to see Israel wiped off the face of the Earth,’ he tweeted”
Emmer (R-MN) 9/23: Tweet – “I’m proud to have voted to fully fund Israel’s Iron Dome. Disappointed that eight of my colleagues decided to turn their backs on one of our nation’s most trusted allies.”
Ferguson (R-GA) 9/21: Tweet – “It’s remarkable that Joe Biden gave almost $80 billion worth of equipment to the Taliban but refuses to fund an air defense system to help our closest ally in the Middle East, Israel, defend itself. It’s mind-numbing to see what the Democrats are doing right now.”
Fischer (R-NE) 9/22: Tweet – “Yesterday House Democrats caved to their party’s growing anti-Semitic fringe when they stripped Iron Dome funding. They failed to stand up for what’s right and support a defensive system that protects Israeli civilians from terrorists.”
Fleischmann (R-TN) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “I rise today on this very important issue that is near and dear to my heart and ought to be near and dear to the heart of this body and the
United States of America. I think the Democratic majority made a horrific mistake this week in
stripping out Iron Dome funding from the NDAA bill. I was shocked. I was shocked because I grew up in a country that, despite being a Republican–and I am a strong Republican; my mother was a strong Democrat, my father was a strong Republican–support for Israel, our beloved ally, our democratic ally, our only really, really reliable ally in the Middle East was stripped out of that bill. This was a defensive mechanism. This is a system, Mr. Speaker, that keeps missiles from coming in and killing innocent men, women, and children who live in fear. Never let an Israeli live in fear from terrorism again; a defensive mechanism, a defensive system. So today I do applaud the Democrats for finally standing up and admitting their mistake with this bill that is unnecessary in this format but has become necessary because it was stripped out of the major NDAA bill. So I will be strongly supporting this bill, this billion dollars for a defensive system, but more importantly today before I reserve the balance of my time, let me say that as an American, as a Republican, as a servant in this House, the United States of America must state its unequivocal support for the State of Israel. Israel has gone through a tumultuous history since its founding. The United States has stood with Israel. We will stand with Israel today on this important bill. We will fund the Iron Dome, and we will always protect the Israeli people from terrorism wherever it comes from.”
Fleischmann (R-TN) 9/23: Floor statement attacking Tlaib (D-MI)’s floor statement on HR 5423 – “Mr. Speaker, I yield myself as much time as necessary to respond to this comment. Mr. Speaker, the truth has finally come out on the floor of the House of the United States of America. I heard some of my Democratic colleagues: Stand with me, with Israel, with our ally, to fight terrorism with a defensive weapon system. And what did we just hear? We heard the Democratic Party speak out. We heard, right now, from my colleague across the aisle with a shocking statement. She opposes this because they have a vocal minority in the majority party that is anti-Israel, that is anti-Semitic. And as Americans, we can never stand for that. I grew up with Holocaust survivors. I grew up with children of Holocaust survivors. Israel has been attacked and attacked and attacked
since its inception. As Americans, I beseech you, I reach out to the majority, and I say condemn what we just heard on the floor. Condemn terrorism. This is a defensive weapon system. Stop playing your procedural games. I hear recommit. It was a motion to recommit. You just saw something on this floor I thought I would never see, not only as a Member of this House, but as an American. Let us stand with Israel. Let’s combat anti-Semitism wherever it is in the world, whether it is in the United States, whether it is from terrorism. I am shocked with what I just heard. I ask the majority to condemn the comments that were just made by their Member.”
Fleischmann (R-TN) 9/23 – Floor statement again attacking Tlaib and Democrats over HR 5323 – “Mr. Speaker, today we have had yet another heated debate in the people’s House in the greatest, freest Nation in the world. The United States of America is a beacon of freedom. In my 10-year tenure in Congress, I have spoken with world leaders in Israel, in the Middle East, in Europe, across the globe. The world looks to the United States for leadership and for freedom. Our great ally in the Middle East, Israel, has been threatened. Its citizens have been threatened since its inception, and that is wrong. I associate myself partially with the remarks of the majority leader when he said we need to pass this bill today; and we do. We need to give Israel and the Israeli people the capability to continue to defend themselves against what are terrorist attacks on its people. Over 4,000 rockets directed by terrorists, supported by countries such as Iran and others, who wish to seek destruction of Israel. As Americans, we can never allow that to happen. As human beings, we can never allow that to happen. And we need to be heard, that beacon of freedom in the United States of America, all over the world in our defense of Israel because other countries have let them down. Today, we will not let Israel down. We will pass this bill. And to my colleagues on the other side of the aisle who once had a great Democratic Party, like the great Republican Party in our great two-party system, stand up, stand up and fight anti-Semitism wherever its ugly head is raised. It is the right thing to do. We will do it with our vote today. But we heard from someone from Michigan (Ms. Tlaib); we heard from their radical left wing that does not support Israel, that does not support the Jewish people. It does not support their right, their inherent right to exist. Let us, as Americans, make our resolve now, today, and forever in our great Republic to protect the people of Israel. Let’s pass this bill, and let’s associate our comments, as Americans, with those who will always stand up and fight anti-Semitism, racism, sexism, and every wrong-ism that exists. That is our great America. That is our great Republic.”
Fleischmann (R-TN) 9/23: Tweet – “The anti-Semitism coming from a radical minority in the Democratic Party is abhorrent to all Americans. The American People have always stood with Israel to defend itself against terrorism. We cannot allow anti-Israel bigotry to stop our commitment. #StandWithIsrael #IronDome”. With video clip of Fleischmann ranting (literally shouting with outrage) on the House floor
Fleischmann (R-TN) 9/22: Tweet – “Israel’s Iron Dome is a purely defensive system that intercepts rockets fired at innocent Jews and Arabs by terrorists. There is no reason to pull funding for this critical defensive system at the last minute. We must stand with our ally Israel.”
Fleischmann (R-TN) 9/21: Tweet – “House Democrats would rather appease the Far Left, anti-Semitic wing of their base than fund the Iron Dome – a defensive system that has saved countless innocent Israelis lives from Hamas rocket attacks. I will always proudly stand with Israel.”
Foxx (R-NC) 9/22: Tweet – “Always #StandWithIsrael.” (with link to video clip)
Foxx (R-NC) 9/22: Floor statement – “Madam Speaker, Israel’s Iron Dome has saved countless lives from barrages of missiles launched by Hamas. One would think that the majority would understand this fact and recognize the Iron Dome’s significance. However, after caving to the demands of several of their own fringe members yesterday, it is clear they don’t have a clue.
Israel has always been a longstanding ally to the United States, and now is not the time to turn our back on Israel. Madam Speaker, without question, House Republicans are proud to stand with Israel and the Jewish community. Our alliance with them is a testament to our shared values, and it should not be forsaken under any circumstance.”
Frankel (D-FL) 9/23: Statement on Iron Dome Supplemental passage [“The Iron Dome is a life-saving missile defense system that protects innocent civilians from rocket attacks by terrorist groups who want to see Israel wiped from the map,” said Rep. Frankel. “Imagine what life would look like in Israel right now if the 4,000+ rockets fired at Israeli schools, parks, airports, and hospitals this summer hadn’t been intercepted by this remarkable system. Iron Dome saves lives, prevents war, and is in America’s national interest. That’s why funding for Iron Dome has always had overwhelming bipartisan support and today’s vote reflects our continued commitment to our ally, partner, and friend—Israel. Gottheimer (D-NJ) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “Mr. Speaker, I rise today in support of critical legislation to support our key ally Israel on the Iron Dome technology we worked with them to develop. For 73 years, the United States and Israel have fostered and strengthened a remarkable relationship rooted in our shared values of freedom and democracy. We continue to see those values attacked today. Israel’s national security is key to America’s national security and to our fight against terror. Earlier this year, terrorists in Gaza including Hamas and the
Palestinian Islamic jihad fired more than 4,500 rockets at innocent civilians in Israel in just 11 days. We thank God each day for the Iron Dome, which intercepted 90 percent of the incoming rockets, saving countless lives. Unfortunately, some of my colleagues recently used support for this defense system as a political football. They threatened to shut down the Federal Government, putting at risk hurricane disaster relief and help for Afghan refugees, all over support for Iron Dome. It was outrageous, but now we have a chance to act. Let’s pass this bill, support Iron Dome, and continue our historic, bipartisan support for the U.S.-Israel relationship. The Senate should then immediately take up this standalone measure and not let it get bogged down in the ongoing debt ceiling and continuing resolution debate. Mr. Speaker, we must protect our ally, the only democracy in the Middle East. Our national security is on the line.”
Gottheimer (D-NJ) 9/21: Tweet – “The Iron Dome protects innocent civilians in Israel from terrorist attacks and some of my colleagues have now blocked funding it. We must stand by our historic ally — the only democracy in the a Middle East.”
Gottheimer (D-NJ) 9/21: Tweet – “Just passed a bill to avert a gov’t shutdown. But some of my colleagues blocked funding for Iron Dome, which protects innocent civilians & our ally Israel. Graham (R-SC) 9/21: Tweet – “The Democrat-controlled House’s refusal to support replenishing funding for Israel’s #IronDome missile defense system marks a new low in the U.S.-Israel relationship.”
Granger (R-TX) 9/23: Floor statement in support of HR 5323: “Mr. Speaker, I rise today in strong support of H.R. 5323, which provides funding for Israel’s Iron Dome system. I have a long record of supporting Israel and am proud to support this bill today. We originally secured funding for Iron Dome in the continuing resolution that was filed Tuesday morning. Unfortunately, that funding was then stripped out to address concerns on the Democrat side, and a new CR was introduced. In addition, Republicans voted for my motion to recommit, which could have addressed this issue, but the majority party was united in voting against it. Let me explain why this bill is important to pass as quickly as possible. Four months ago, Israel was under attack from terrorists. The rocket fire into Israel was unprecedented. Countless civilian lives were saved because of the Iron Dome system that the United States has supported year after year. Due to the attacks this last spring, Iron Dome rocket interceptors need to be replenished. This funding is critical and time-sensitive. We must ensure Israel has what it needs to defend itself in the face of real and growing threats. Providing this funding sends an important message to Israel and those who wish them harm, that the United States stands with Israel and against terrorists. We must reassure our ally that America will never turn its back on the great State of Israel.”

Guthrie (R-KY) 9/22: Tweets – “Last night I voted against a package Democrats put together that raises our nation’s debt limit and kicks the can down the road instead of addressing our government spending and debt. I can’t support raising the debt limit to burden generations to come with new debt as Democrats also pursue a reckless $3.5 trillion budget that would lead to the highest sustained federal spending levels our country has ever seen.Speaker Pelosi even had to take out $1 billion from the package that would have funded the Iron Dome, Israel’s missile defense system, to accommodate the demands of the Democrats’ radical members. This is yet another example of Democrats’ poor governance.” Statement is here: Guthrie Votes Against Raising the Debt Ceiling.
Hagedorn (R-MN) 9/21: Tweet – “House Democrats pulling $1 billion in funding from the #IronDome and siding with Islamic terrorists is a complete slap in the face to our ally Israel. I, along with my House Republican colleagues, will always #StandWithIsrael and support their right to self-defense.”
Hagerty (R-TN) 9/21: Tweet – “By blocking funding to replenish Iron Dome, Democrats are choosing Hamas terrorists over our ally Israel. When I visited Israel in June, I saw how Iron Dome saved Israeli & Palestinian civilians from Hamas rockets. It’s a shame the Left is again choosing terrorists over allies.”
Harshbarger (R-TN) 9/21: Tweet – “The Democrats have just abandoned the Iron Dome which saves lives in Israel from Hamas’ rocket attacks. The radical left continues to push for legislation that is anti-Semitic and fails to support our greatest ally in the Middle East. I will always stand with Israel!”
Hartzler (R-MO) 9/22: Tweet – “House Democrats continue to play politics with our national defense. The CR betrays Israel, our strongest partner in the Middle East, by removing funding for the Iron Dome. This defensive network saved thousands of lives after 4,400 rockets launched against Israel in 11 days.”
Hartzler (R-MO) 9/21: Tweet – “House Democrats’ hostility towards Israel continues, this time striking funds to help Israel defend itself from terrorist missile strikes.”
Hayes (D-CT) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “Mr. Speaker, I rise in support of this bill. There are serious votes, and then there are messaging votes. A messaging vote is designed for attack ads. That is exactly what we saw on the floor yesterday. The motion to recommit, a parliamentary action, has been turned into a dishonest attack and framed as a vote against the security of Israel. I am a Democrat, and I remain firm in my commitment and appreciation for Israel’s legitimate right to self-defense, and I remind everyone again that the motion to recommit just sends the bill back to committee. According to the memorandum of understanding between Israel and the United States reached in 2016, for fiscal years 2019 through 2028, the United States is expected to provide $500 million every year for missile defense. That has not changed. Funding for the Iron Dome was never in jeopardy. In fact, President Biden has pledged to replenish the Iron Dome funding system, and Congress will approve it following the correct legislative action. A motion to recommit is a procedural vote that sends a bill back to committee. That is all it does. My Republican colleagues have shown time and time again that when we have to take actual votes, they vote against Israel…Mr. Speaker, on July 1 the Appropriations Committee voted on H.R. 4373, which contains the bulk of Israel aid, $3.3 billion in security assistance. Every Republican voted ‘no.’ On July 13, the Appropriations Committee voted on H.R. 4432, which includes $500 million in missile defense. Every Republican voted ‘no.’ So let’s be honest about what is happening here. We have consistently voted to support our allies in Israel. I end by saying, being pro-Israel and expressing concern for Palestinian rights are not mutually exclusive. I will continue to challenge myself and my colleagues and ask the difficult questions in an effort to work toward a solution. I urge a ‘yes’ vote.”
Hice (R-GA) 9/21: Tweet – “President Biden today: “The commitment of the United States to Israel’s security is without question…” Speaker Pelosi JUST caved to the socialists and yanked funding for Israel’s Iron Dome from the government funding CR bill. Dems can’t even keep a promise for 24 hours.”
Hill (R-AR) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “Mr. Speaker, I thank the Speaker, I thank the ranking member of the Appropriations Committee, and the chair for bringing this measure to the floor. But to paraphrase President Reagan, Well, there you go again. Why are we here? This should have been in the CR, approved, or we should have had support for the ranking member’s motion to recommit, but we are here for a supplemental appropriation for the Iron Dome. I support it, but it is disgraceful that we have had to come back to the House floor to carry on this mission. The Iron Dome is one of the most successful military and technology partnerships in world history. Earlier this year, the missile defense system, Iron Dome, saved countless lives, Mr. Speaker, of Israeli and Palestinian citizens from relentless attack. In July I traveled to Israel with Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Meeks on the first U.S. congressional codel since the pandemic. Where
was it? Our first visit, Jerusalem, to meet the new Israeli coalition government. Despite a change in power and a new governing coalition between left and right, there is no space, Mr. Speaker, between the parties in Israel that the number one national security threat continues to be
Iran. And who funds that roaring rocket reign of terror flying into Israel from Hamas? Iran. Mr. Speaker, we have historically in this body had strong bipartisan support for our friend, Israel. On our trip, our delegation, led by Chair Meeks, assured the Israeli Government that we have their back and that we would continue to fund Iron Dome. I thank him for his critical voice. While this makeup vote restores the funding stripped by Democratic colleagues earlier this week, the concern I have is like the gentlewoman from Florida, those strong Democratic friends of Israel are
continuing to be thrown under the bus on this House floor by the far left.”
Hill (R-AR) 9/23: Tweet – “I spoke on the House Floor to express my support for funding to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome. While I was proud to vote in support of this measure, it’s a shame my Democratic colleagues stripped out funding for the Iron Dome earlier this week and had to hold a second vote.”
Hill (R-AR) 9/23: Tweet – “The Iron Dome saved countless Israeli citizens from a barrage of terrorist rockets just a handful of months ago. Now, House Dem leadership has responded by blocking crucial funding to our ally’s defense system — all to appease anti-Israel leftists in Congress.” and “I am proud to #StandWithIsrael. This funding must be restored immediately.”
Hill (R-AR) 9/21: Tweet – “Unbelievable. House Democrats caved to the far-left, progressive wing of their party and abandoned Iron Dome funding for our strongest ally in the region, Israel.
@HouseGOP will always #StandWithIsrael”
Hinson (R-IA) 9/23: Tweet – “Israel has the right to defend itself. While horrible that radical Democrats allowed funding for Israel’s #IronDome to be stripped from legislation earlier this week, I’m glad the House came together to pass funding for the Iron Dome & show Israel they have our steadfast support.”
Hinson (R-IA) 9/21: Tweet – “The Iron Dome protects Israel from terrorist attacks. Support for Israel used to be bipartisan, and still should be, but now the far left is running the show up in Washington. I #StandWithIsrael.”
Hoyer (D-MD) 9/23: Floor statement – “I thank the gentlewoman for yielding. Mr. Speaker, this is not a partisan issue. Very frankly, the CR that was brought to the floor the other day would have said we are going to pay the debts of the United States because we don’t welch, and we are
going to fund Iron Dome. Unfortunately, because, to a person, our Republican colleagues would
have refused and said they would not vote for that resolution, and because, yes, there were a very, very few who said they wouldn’t vote for it on our side, because all of you would not vote for it, and we had just a handful who would not vote, we could not pass it. So, the debt limit was at risk, and Iron Dome was at risk. The chair of the Committee on Appropriations, Rosa DeLauro, said that won’t stand. And I stood on this floor and said we are going to bring an individual bill that I hope all of us will support. Now, obviously, all of us are not supporting it. There are some few who will not support this. But the overwhelming majority of this Congress, not in a partisan way, but in an American way, will support defending the democratic State of Israel created by the United Nations of the world to be an independent, sovereign, secure nation. Very frankly, in a bipartisan way, no nation on Earth has been more important for the survival and security and sovereignty of that nation than the United States of America. Today continues that commitment. Mr. Speaker, on Tuesday, I said we will deal with Iron Dome without delay to help defend Israel against Hamas’ rocket attacks. Today, I am proud to bring this legislation to the floor and thank not only Chair DeLauro but I also thank many who have spoken, certainly, my friend Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Mr. Deutch, Mr. Schneider, and others who have talked to me about this issue. We bring this bill to the floor with the expectation that it will be overwhelmingly passed because we will put behind us partisanship. Support for Israel has traditionally and must always be a bipartisan issue. That is because we overwhelmingly recognize the fundamental right of the Jewish people to live independently in their ancestral homeland and to do so in peace and security. Since its founding–a millennia ago, in some respects–more particularly, politically, 1948 to today, Israel has been under constant threat and attack from those who would deny its right to
exist–not about offensive actions that they took, not about this action that they took, to deny their very right to exist. As we continue to stand up for a two-state solution that achieves peace, security, hope, and opportunity for both Israelis and Palestinians, we vigorously, strongly, unshakably, stand for Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism. Make no mistake: Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorist organizations bent on murder and genocide and eliminating Israel from that map of which Mr. Deutch talked. Supported by Iran, one of the most prolific supporters of terrorism in the world, and avowing not only the destruction of Israel but also harm to America, Hamas and Hezbollah continue to rain terror down on innocent Israelis. In May, Hamas showed the world, yet again, why these terror organizations remain a threat to peace to the future of both Israelis and Palestinians. The rocket attacks that launched from Gaza, a territory it rules with a draconian iron fist, sought to kill innocent Israeli citizens indiscriminately. Sadly, Hamas’s attacks compelled a defensive response that led to the deaths of innocent Palestinians trapped in harm’s way or used as human shields by the terror organization’s brutal rule. Mr. Speaker, much of the reason why so many innocent Israeli lives were saved was because of something we have done here in Congress since 2010, which is to fund and support and jointly develop the deployment of the defensive anti-rocket system called Iron Dome. Iron Dome has saved countless lives since 2010, including during the conflict in May, protecting schools, hospitals, synagogues, and family
homes. The system continues to do its job, with a rocket from Gaza being intercepted less than 2 weeks ago. During a period of 10 days in May, Hamas fired more than 4,400 rockets; 10 days, 4,400. Over 400 rockets a day fired into Israel, and Iron Dome extraordinarily intercepted 90 percent of those rockets. That number, in just 10 days, was a dramatic escalation over the number of rockets fired at Israel by Hamas and Hezbollah over the previous 10 years, which was around 10,000, or 1,000 a year. 4,400 rockets in 10 days. Hezbollah, by the way, and we all recognize this, is estimated, by published reports–I don’t have the classified reports–to have 130,000 rockets aimed at Israel from southern Lebanon. The number of interceptors Israel needs to deal with these escalating attacks is going up dramatically as well. I talked to Mr. Lapid just 2 days ago, and he said to me: Congressman, I really don’t know. We know how many rockets they have, we just don’t know how many they will send at one time. So that we need to make sure that there is sufficient supply, and the resupply after the rockets, confronting the 4,400 rockets, were used. Israel needed 2,400 interceptors for 10,000 rockets. In May, it needed 2,000 interceptors to take down the 4,400. As a result of May’s unprecedented barrage and the use of Iron Dome
to defend against it, the system needs to be replenished and strengthened. Mr. Speaker, I was proud to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support the development and deployment of Iron Dome as part of the broad, bipartisan support for Israel in Congress, as well
as to support the joint American-Israeli development of the David’s Sling long-range missile system. Why do we do that? Why do we ask the taxpayers of the United States of America to do that? We do it because we believe it is in their best interest. Yes, it is in Israel’s interest. And, yes, it is in the interest of Israelis. But it is in the security interest of the United States of America. And that is why we proudly stand up and support this funding, and other funding that we give to Israel, so that it can remain the democracy that honors human rights. Does everybody honor human rights every day? America? We can look in the mirror. Every country can do that. But Israel, unlike any other country in the Middle East, has a supreme court that says to the government: You cannot do that. This is the right thing to do. And then Israelis do it. A nation of laws. A nation of morals. A nation that is committed to the democratic process. This House will today reflect overwhelming support in a bipartisan basis. Today, I believe that we will again evidence our broad and bipartisan commitment to Israel’s security, the safety of its people, and its right to self-defense. Mr. Speaker, I want to thank Chairwoman Rosa DeLaura for introducing this legislation and our appropriators who worked on it, as I said, including Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Mr. Speaker, I trust that we will pass this today in just a few minutes. I trust the Senate will take it up immediately, and that we will send it to the President of the United States. He supports this. He urges that we pass it. He will do the same in the Senate. This is the right thing to do. It is what America does. It stands up for countries who stand up for freedom. Mr. Speaker, I urge the House on both sides of the aisle to overwhelmingly support the passage of this legislation.”
Hoyer (D-MD) 9/22: Tweet – “This afternoon, House Democrats introduced H.R. 5323, legislation to fully fund Israel’s Iron Dome. I will bring this urgently needed measure to the House Floor tomorrow for a vote to ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself.”

Kustoff (R-TN) 9/23: Tweet – “Over the years, the Iron Dome has been used to protect countless lives in Israel from rocket attacks by terrorist groups. LaMalfa (R-CA) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “Mr. Speaker, Israel is arguably our most reliable ally in the world; indeed, a beacon of light and a beacon of democracy in the Middle East. So I don’t understand how we could not work earlier this week to help them, to support them. Well, I am glad today we could come together on both sides of the aisle and come to an agreement on this with strong support via this resolution. I visited Israel several times. And when you visit with the people there and talk with them, there are people that live their lives under a 15-second warning for when rockets may come in at random from anywhere in the zones that are near where the rockets are launched from, whether it is Gaza, or whether it is up north in Lebanon. What a way to live a life. For us to not be able to come to an agreement because of politics earlier this week, is really sad. So I am glad for our colleagues on both sides of the aisle to come to an agreement today and get strong votes for this to support Iron Dome, which is a defensive mechanism, technology that both us in the United States and Israel benefit from in
making all of our interests stronger. I am glad we can have the support today and get it right.”

Lamborn (R-CO) 9/22: Statement – “Yesterday, Democrats removed funding for the Iron Dome out of a continuing resolution to fund the government through December 3rd. As you know, the Iron Dome is a crucial defensive missile system that has saved countless lives in Israel from Hamas’ rocket attacks. Iron Dome is near and dear to my heart, as I helped get it critical funding when it was first created. I will always stand with Israel and work to protect the lives of innocent Israeli civilians. The anti-Semitic shift by the far-left wing of the Democratic Party is extremely concerning.”
Lamborn (R-CO) 9/21: Tweet – “Incredibly, the anti-Semitic wing of the Democratic Party is threatening to shut down the government if aid for the Iron Dome, Israel’s crucial defense system, is provided. #StandWithIsrael”
Lamborn (R-CO) 9/21: Tweet – “It is clear that @HouseGOP is the only party that supports Israel. #StandWithIsrael”
Langevin (D-RI) 9/21: Tweet – “Israel’s Iron Dome saves lives. Supporting it shouldn’t be controversial. Still, it’s laughable for R’s to criticize a bill they were always planning to vote against. Democrats will include robust funding for Iron Dome in our final funding bill, and I’ll be proud to support it.”
LaTurner (R-KS) 9/21: Tweet – “House Democrats just caved to anti-Israel progressives & abandoned our greatest ally in the Middle East by stripping Iron Dome funding from the CR. This funding saves thousands of lives and protects Israel from never-ending rocket attacks. I will always #StandWithIsrael.”
Latta (R-OH) 9/23: Tweet – “Today, the House passed legislation to resupply Israel’s Iron Dome. This defensive system is critical to protecting innocent civilians from rocket attacks launched by Hamas. Israel has a right to defend itself, and we will continue to stand with Israel against terrorist threats.”
Lee (D-NV) 9/21: Tweet – “I just voted to pass bipartisan funding that will save lives. Israel’s Iron Dome is a purely defensive system. We have seen it save thousands of lives in this year alone. The House put politics aside to secure these funds. Now the Senate must act swiftly to do the same.”
Lee (D-NV) 9/21: Tweet – “I want to make this clear: Israel’s Iron Dome is a purely defensive system. It has saved thousands of civilian lives. This shouldn’t be a moment to play politics. I look forward to ensuring that funding for the Iron Dome makes it into the final bill.”
Long (R-MO) 9/22: Tweet – “Israel used to garner the support of both political parties. Democrats would rather placate their radical base than stand with a close friend and ally. The
@HouseGOP will not waver in our support for Israel.”
Loudermilk (R-GA) 3/23: Tweet – “Interesting that the anti-Israel Dems in the House seem to be parroting the vicious language the Iranian foreign minister used to declare Iran’s dedication to annihilating Israel.”
Loudermilk (R-GA) 9/23: Tweet – “Today the growing anti-Semitic movement in the Democrat Party was on full display on the House Floor. This is shameful and disturbing.”
Loudermilk (R-GA) 9/23: Tweets (compiled) – “In Jan, Nancy Pelosi supported removing a Republican member of Congress from committees because of controversial statements made before she was in Congress. Today, a Dem made anti-Semitic remarks on the House floor by referring to Israel as an Apartheid government. Well, @SpeakerPelosi? Will you do the same now, or just make more excuses as you have done for your side in the past?”
Luetkemeyer (R-MS) 9/21: Tweet – “The radical Left’s outright disdain for Israel and disregard for the safety of innocent civilians against terrorists is unacceptable. Speaker Pelosi has once again lost control of her party and Israel could unfortunately pay the price. #StandWithIsrael”
Luria (D-VA) 9/23: Tweet – “The Iron Dome must be replenished and our commitment to Israel must be unwavering. Supporting this bill honors that bipartisan commitment to Israel in a time of great upheaval in the region and saves countless Palestinian & Israeli lives.”
Luria (D-VA) 9/23: Tweet – “Proud of my vote today to secure $1 Billion for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system. Supporting this bill honors our bipartisan commitment to Israel and will save countless Palestinian and Israeli lives. I urge the Senate to take up this bill without delay.”
Mace (R-SC) 9/21: Tweet – “I’m sitting in my office when we should be voting because Nancy Pelosi caved to the radical left. Democrats pulled their own bill that would’ve replenished funding for Israel’s Iron Dome defense.”
Malinowski (D-NJ) 9/21: Tweet – “A good explainer from my colleague @RepSlotkin. We will fund Iron Dome. But it’s sad anyone would even question support for a defensive system that saves Israeli and Palestinian lives. This should be the least controversial aspect of our Middle East policy.” Linked to a factually incorrect Twitter thread from Slotkin (D-MI).
Malliotakis (R-NY) 9/23: Tweet – “So far, It’s a good day. We fought and successfully RESTORED support for Israel’s Iron Dome…DEFEATED AOC’s attempt to cut our military funding AND…my legislation to require more transparency to achieve accountability with regard to Iran is coming up shortly.”
Malliotakis (R-NY) 9/23: Press release – “With the National Defense Authorization Act being taken up today, it is imperative that Democrats and Republicans join together to restore funding to Israel’s Iron Dome, which just recently proved its importance and effectiveness after successfully stopping thousands of rockets from the terrorist group Hamas. Israel’s national security is critical to America’s national security and this is not something Congress should play around with. When given the opportunity to restore Israel’s Iron Dome funding on Tuesday, every single Democrat – including those who publicly voiced frustrations with members of their own party – voted against protecting our strongest ally in the Middle East. Fortunately, Democrats will be given another chance to restore the funding this afternoon and I urge my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to join us in siding with Israel over Hamas for the sake of America and Israel’s national security.”
Malliotakis (R-NY) 9/23: Tweet – “Sadly, when given the opportunity to restore Iron Dome funding, every single Democrat (including those who expressed outrage) voted against it. Let’s hope they side with Israel over Hamas when given another chance today.”
Malliotakis (R-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “Pelosi & the squad are siding with terrorists over our ally Israel by attempting to cut funding for Israel’s Iron Dome, which recently stopped thousands of rockets. Israel’s security is critical to our national security & I’m glad to see members of both parties fighting back.”
Maloney (D-NY) 9/23: Floor statement in support of Iron Dome supplemental funding – “Mr. Speaker, I strongly support funding for the Iron Dome. The Iron Dome is a purely defensive system, one that has saved countless innocent lives. Its whole purpose is to save lives and pursue peace. I strongly support Israel’s right to defend herself. Since its formation, Israel, our closest ally in the Middle East, has been under attack by terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah that deny its right to exist. The Iron Dome is crucial to protecting lives against these terrorist attacks who continue to fire thousands of rockets into Israel. I am proud of the work that Israel and the United States did together to develop this successful defensive system, and I urge all my colleagues to support the Iron Dome Supplemental Appropriations Act. This should be a totally bipartisan effort.”
Maloney (D-NY) 9/23: Tweet – “The Iron Dome is crucial to protecting innocent civilian lives against terrorists who continue to fire thousands of rockets into Israel. I am proud to support this funding and urged all of my colleagues to do the same.”

Maloney (D-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “The Iron Dome is a DEFENSE system that has saved countless lives. We must, and will, fund it this year.”
Mann (R-KS) 9/22: Tweet – “I stand with Israel.”
Mann (R-KS) 9/22: Tweet – “Stripping our longtime ally, Israel of U.S. support to avert a shutdown and funnel more $$ into a radical agenda is atrocious and unamerican. @RepJacobs
and I introduced legislation to add $1B defense funding for Israel’s Iron Dome. America stands with Israel.”
Manning (D-NC) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “Israel is our most important, most reliable, and only democratic ally in the Middle East. The United States has a longstanding bipartisan commitment to Israel’s security, and that commitment must remain ironclad. In May, innocent civilians in Israel, Jews, Christians, and Muslims were targeted by terrorist groups from Gaza who fired more than 4,500 rockets at schools, hospitals, and population centers. It was the Iron Dome missile defense system that intercepted those rockets, saving thousands of lives. Now we must stand with our ally on a bipartisan basis and make sure Israel has the resources to defend her people from future terrorist attacks. We do that by passing this bill. I am grateful to Majority Leader Hoyer and Chairwoman DeLauro for their leadership in bringing this supplemental to the floor today. We cannot play politics with Israel’s security especially when lives are at risk.”
Mast (R-FL) 9/22: Statement & video – “The Squad is deciding foreign policy [“They have forced their far-left foreign policy into the mainstream thinking of liberals in Congress and passed legislation to stop funding for the joint U.S.-Israel rocket defense system known as the Iron Dome. This is a defense system that has stopped tens of thousands of rockets fired by the terrorist organization Hamas whose only goal is to kill as many innocent Israelis as possible. The Iron Dome is the only thing standing in their way, it has saved lives, and yet, the Squad has convinced House Democrats to defund it. This is the Squad’s foreign policy: fund terrorists, forsake our allies. What’s equally alarming is that their Democrat colleagues refuse to stand up against this radical ideology that’s taking over their party.”
McCarthy (R-CA) 9/22: Post – Today’s Anti-Israel Democrat Party
McCarthy (R-CA) 9/22: Tweet – “Democrats abandoned our ally Israel to appease the pro-BDS, far-Left radicals who run their party. Speaker Pelosi must immediately bring legislation to restore Iron Dome funding to the House floor for a vote.”
McCarthy (R-CA) 9/22: Tweet – “Two years ago—70 Republicans & Democrats stood at an Iron Dome defense battery in Israel. For Repubs, it’s a reminder we will always stand with Israel. For Dems, it apparently was nothing more than a photo op. Yesterday, every one of them voted against funding for the Iron Dome.”
McCarthy (R-CA) 9/21: Tweet – “BREAKING → Democrats just pulled funding from the Iron Dome—the missile defense system that has saved countless lives in Israel from Hamas’ rocket attacks. While Dems capitulate to the antisemitic influence of their radical members, Republicans will always stand with Israel.”
McCarthy (R-CA) – House GOP acct 9/21: Tweet – “We Stand With Israel!”

McCarthy (R-CA) – comms, 9/21: Tweet – “214 House Democrats just BLOCKED an amendment that would have provided $1 billion to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome WATCH @RepKayGranger: ‘Now is the time to ensure Israel has what it needs to defend itself in the face of real and growing threats.’”
McCaul (R-TX) 9/23: Statement – ““Israel has an unequivocal right to self-defense. Iron Dome – a product of U.S.-Israel security cooperation – is a vital part of Israel’s self-defense, having saved countless lives when Hamas launched over 4,000 rockets at Israel in May. It is critical Israel have the necessary tools to protect their citizens against future attacks by bad actors. After the troubling actions of a small group of Members threatened this vital funding, I am pleased it passed the House with broad bipartisan support. The U.S.-Israel relationship should remain non-partisan.”
McCaul (R-TX) 9/23: Tweet – “LR @RepMcCaul on voting yes in support of the supplemental funding for #Israel’s #IronDome: ‘Israel has an unequivocal right to self-defense.’”
McCaul (R-TX) 9/21: McCaul on House Democrats’ Decision to Pull Iron Dome Funding from CR
McHenry (R-NC) 9/22: Tweet – “Strong @WSJopinion piece on @HouseDemocrats shameful decision to remove Iron Dome funding from the govt funding bill. That far-left Dems would insist on removing funding for this DEFENSIVE measure is a clear example of their contempt for our ally Israel.”
McCollum (D-MN) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323: “Mr. Speaker, I am a strong supporter of human rights, Palestinian and Israeli rights. As chair of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, Iron Dome was fully funded in the FY22 Defense appropriations bill that passed out of committee with unanimous Democratic support and no Republican votes. The CR earlier this week added language for a billion dollars for Iron Dome, despite no requests received by me from the Biden administration. Madam Chair, you and I agree, this was a matter that could have been worked out in conference committee, but today we have this emergency bill in front of us. I would like to engage in a colloquy with the chair of the full committee to clarify this important point. Can any funds in this bill be used for the procurement of offensive weapons by the Government of Israel? I yield to my friend for an answer. Ms. DeLAURO. I thank the gentlewoman for yielding. The answer is no, they cannot be used for offensive weapons by the Government of Israel. On page 2, line 7, the bill clearly states the purpose, “for the procurement of the Iron Dome defense system to counter short-range rocket threats.” Ms. McCOLLUM. Thank you. This bill clearly states that this funding is purely for defensive purposes.”
McHenry (R-NC) 9/23: Tweet – “Earlier this week, House Dems caved to the far-left & shamefully stripped Iron Dome funding from their partisan spending bill. But today we didn’t let the progressives win. I was proud to vote yes and support our sacred ally Israel.”
McHenry (R-NC) 9/21: Tweet – “Tonight’s vote demonstrates that House Dems’ only priority is forcing through their socialist tax & spending spree. To make matters worse progressives objected to Iron Dome funding—a defense system that protects our sacred ally Israel. This is shameful.”
McKinley (R-WV) 9/21: Tweet – “Unreal. Apparently the Democrats would rather placate their far-left base than protect civilians from rocket attacks. We #StandwithIsrael and its right to self-defense.”
McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) 9/23: Tweet – “This is unacceptable. The American people will always #StandWithIsrael in their right to defend themself from terrorists. Radical Democrats turning their back on our strongest ally and spewing vile anti-Semitism must not be tolerated in the People’s House.” Linked to FoxNews article, 9 House members vote against Israel Iron Dome funding as Tlaib accused of anti-Semitism
Miller (R-WV) 9/23: Tweet – “Today, I voted to fully fund Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system. This should never be a partisan issue. Israel has every right to defend itself.”
Miller-Meeks (R-IA) 9/23: Floor statement – “I rise today to speak on the importance of the United States continuing to support our allies, specifically Israel. Israel has long been a key strategic ally for the United States. Our relationship is mutually beneficial, and it is important that we work to support them whenever we can. That means fully funding the Iron Dome missile defense system must be a top priority of this Chamber. The Iron Dome is a mobile all-weather air defense system designed to intercept and destroy short-range rockets and artillery shells whose trajectory would take them to an Israeli populated area. This system is purely defensive and designed to protect civilians. Innocent bystanders of all ethnicities, nationalities, and faiths rely on the Iron Dome for safety and protection. When terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah fire thousands of rockets into Israel, as they did earlier this year, the Iron Dome system quickly destroyed them and saved countless lives. Unfortunately, the majority wants to play games with this vital program. Earlier this
week, the funding for the Iron Dome was stripped from the majority’s continuing resolution amid protests from progressive Members. For years, the United States has consistently funded the Iron Dome on a strong bipartisan basis to help Israel defend itself from rocket attacks from terrorist organizations. There has never been a situation where military aid for Israel was held up because of objections from Members of Congress. It is disgraceful that the majority would remove the $1 billion in funding for the Iron Dome to appease the far left that seems to have taken over their agenda. Not funding the Iron Dome puts lives at risk for absolutely no reason. While I appreciate the majority introducing standalone legislation to fully fund the system, it should not have come to this to ensure the safety of our allies. After a summer that saw 2 weeks of fighting between Israel and Palestine, it is beyond clear to me that we must support Israel. Israel has long been a U.S. ally in a region marked by decades of conflict and turmoil. They are a strong democracy and share our views on many issues. I am proud to say what many in the majority will not, that I firmly stand in support of Israel and continuing to build our partnership for years to come.”
Miller-Meeks (R-IA) 9/23: Tweet – “Our relationship with Israel is mutually beneficial, and it is important that we work to support them whenever we can. That means fully funding the Iron Dome missile defense system must be a top priority of this Congress.”

Miller-Meeks (R-IA) 9/21: Tweet – “The Iron Dome protects Israeli civilians from deadly rocket attacks that are launched at cities. This system has saved countless lives over the years. We must ensure the safety of our allies and I am proud to #standwithIsrael. #IronDomSavesLives #IA02”
Manning (D-NC) 9/21: Tweet – “Upon my urging, House leadership has committed to bringing a standalone bill to the floor this week to replenish the Iron Dome missile defense system. We will pass this bill with the support of the majority of my colleagues and reiterate our ironclad support for our ally, Israel.”
Manning (D-NC) 9/21: Tweet – “I’m pleased to see @LeaderHoyer announce that the House will vote on a standalone bill to replenish the Iron Dome missile defense system this week.”
Moolenar (R-MI) 9/23: press release – “Today, the House of Representatives passed legislation supporting Israel and its Iron Dome defense system, which is used to intercept rockets launched at Israel. In May of this year, the terrorist organizations Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad launched more than 4,300 rocket attacks and Iron Dome intercepted 90 percent of those that were directed at Israeli cities. After Israel defended itself against these attacks it became necessary to replenish the supply of Iron Dome interceptors, which are co-produced in the United States and Israel. The Iron Dome saved countless lives earlier this year when it intercepted terrorist rocket attacks aimed at the people of Israel. This vital technology is made possible by the strong partnership between the United States and Israel, and today’s legislation will help ensure Israel has the resources it needs to defend itself in the future…The partnership between Israel and the United States helps keep Americans and Israelis safe at home and abroad, and we must always work together to protect our citizens against terrorists who wish to do us harm.”
Mooney (R-WV) 9/21: Tweet – “It’s outrageous after the US gave billions to the Tabilan [sic] the radical left would block funds used to help Israeli citizens from rocket attacks.”

Moran (R-KS) 9/21: Tweet – “I’m terribly disappointed – but not surprised – to learn House Dems stripped funding for Israel’s Iron Dome, a purely defensive system that protects civilians against rockets fired by terrorists. This is vindictive at a time when our ally and partner #Israel deserves our support.”
Mullin (R-OK) 9/23: Tweet – “Israel is not an apartheid state and it is anti-Semitic to refer to it as such. Last I checked, supporting a defense system used to protect innocent civilian lives from terrorist attacks did not fall under the definition of ‘war crime.’ I will always stand with Israel.”
Mullin (R-OK) 9/21: Tweet – “Democrats’ decision to cut funding is a blow to Israel and to our alliance with their great nation. The Iron Dome is crucial to Israeli security and there is absolutely no reason to politicize this.”
Murphy (D-CT) 9/22: Tweet – “I support Iron Dome funding. Israel should have the ability to protect itself, and the U.S. should be a partner. But this funding cannot be at the expense of economic/humanitarian aid to the Palestinians. Iron Dome funding and Palestinian aid should move together.”
Murphy (D-FL) 9/23: Tweet – “Today I proudly voted to fully fund Israel’s Iron Dome. Saving lives should not be a partisan issue. I urge the Senate to take this bill up for a vote immediately.”
Steph Murphy (R-FL) 9/21: Tweet – “I’m outraged and dismayed that some of my colleagues object to helping Israel defend itself from rocket attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists. America must support our ally Israel.”
Murphy (R-NC) 9/23: Tweet – “I’m on my way to vote YES on H.R. 5323 to provide funding for the #IronDome. We must support our allies in #Israel and their right to self defense!”
Murphy (R-NC) 9/23: Tweet – “Dear anti-Israel caucus: You’ve already attempted to “defund police” in America, now crime is skyrocketing. “Defunding” Israel’s #IronDome self-defense system exposes our allies to terrorism and destruction. I suggest you quit undermining essential security at home and abroad.”
Murphy (R-NC) 9/21: Tweet – “Once again, Democrats cave to the anti-Semitic ‘Squad.’ House Republicans will ALWAYS stand with Israel and protect our allies’ right to self-defense. There should be no doubt that the far-left socialists are in control of today’s Democrat party…”

Newhouse (R-WA) 9/23: Tweet – “I will always #StandWithIsrael, our strongest friend in the Middle East and a key ally in our anti-terrorism efforts. I voted for H.R. 5323 to uphold our commitment to them and provide funding for their missile defense system, the Iron Dome.”

Norcross (D-NJ) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “I rise today in speaking of the importance of defending innocent lives from indiscriminate attacks, because that is exactly what Iron Dome does. It is a purely defensive system that safeguards lives and thousands of civilians living in Israel, many of whom have friends and family right in my south Jersey district. This shouldn’t be a partisan issue, and I hear that right before they start blaming the other side. My God, the reason why it didn’t come up before is because they wouldn’t vote for it. We couldn’t count on them. Just like we can’t count on them on so many issues. This saves lives. 300,000 of them are American citizens living in Israel. You heard the number, 4,000 shots. Very few people lost their lives. Still too many. Imagine how many would have died if this system were not in place. This is just so important for our relationship with Israel. If we fail to stand by our closest allies what message are we sending to others? So protecting civilian lives through this defensive system is a nonpartisan issue, and we must support it. I urge all my colleagues to support this measure.”
Norcross (D-NJ) 9/23: Tweet – “The Iron Dome provides necessary & life-preserving protection to the people of Israel. Today, we voted to fund this program & save lives, many of the lives it has saved are friends & family members of the residents in my district.”
Omar (D-MN) 9/23: Tweets (compiled) – “Given the human rights violations in Gaza, Sheikh Jarrah, and ever-growing settlement expansion, we should not be ramming through a last-minute $1 billion increase in military funding for Israel without any accountability. As my colleague, @BettyMcCollum04 has pointed out [here], this language was added without the knowledge or consent of relevant committee chairs or proper budgeting. This vote is not about simply funding the Iron Dome. It’s about adding an extra billion dollars on top of the $73 million we already allocated this year. That’s 14 times more than we normally spend on it and 60% of what we’ve provided for it over the course of a decade. Those advocating for this have not made the case for why this enormous increase is necessary and why the U.S. taxpayers have to fund it. To be clear, any loss of life—whether Israeli or Palestinian—is an unspeakable tragedy. We should be doing everything in our power to end the violence and bring about peace. But this does nothing to actually bring us closer to peace. We continue to pay lip service to human rights, peace and a two state solution. Yet we also continue to provide Israel with funding without addressing the underlying issue of the occupation. This is not about one country. If human rights are truly to guide our foreign policy, we need to act like it everywhere. Otherwise our words ring hollow.”
Owens (R-UT) 9/23: Tweet – “Proud to vote YES on H.R. 5323 in full support of Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system that continues to save countless innocent lives. This should not be a partisan issue. #StandWithIsrael”

Palazzo (R-MS) 9/21: Tweet – “I stand WITH Israel and AGAINST a government shutdown fueled by anti-Semitic politicians.”
Pascrell (D-NJ) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323: “I support Israel’s right to defend herself. I have always voted for defensive technology, which we should invest in. The Congress first supported Iron Dome funding a decade ago after a request made by President Obama. In 2014 I visited Israel. I saw with my own eyes how the Iron Dome stopped rockets and saved lives. This year we saw the horrific launching of rockets from Gaza toward Israeli streets. It is never okay to target civilians. While the deescalation prevailed, there was a tragic loss of life in Israel and Gaza. Extremism and vicious rhetoric breed instability. This year the U.S. rightly provided millions in humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people. Thanks to the bill before us, Congress is reaffirming our commitment to Israel’s right to defend itself. Iron Dome technology keeps people safe, and it saves lives.”
Pelosi (D-CA) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “I thank the distinguished chairwoman of the
Appropriations Committee for yielding, but more importantly, for her unwavering support for this important priority. Thank you, Ms. DeLauro, for your leadership in bringing this legislation to the floor to further express the will of Congress in a bipartisan way for the security of Israel. Iron Dome is a purely defensive system designed to safeguard all civilians living in Israel. The system was codeveloped by the United States and Israel and has saved thousands of lives. Additional financial support for Iron Dome was part of the memorandum of understanding negotiated by President Obama in 2016. The funding being appropriated today simply continues and strengthens this support. Passage of this bill reflects a great unity in Congress on a
bipartisan and bicameral basis for Israel’s security. Assistance to Israel is vital, because Israel’s security is an imperative for America’s security. Today and every day, Congress stands in support of a comprehensive, durable peace in the region, and we pray for every life lost on all sides of this conflict. I urge a strong bipartisan vote for the security of the people of Israel and for this legislation. Again, I commend all who have been a part of putting this together, Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz, Congressman Deutch, and so many others that I see here.”
Pence (R-IN) 9/23: Tweet – “This is not a partisan issue, nor should it ever have come to this. We must ALWAYS stand with our allies in Israel. I am proud to vote YES on H.R. 5323 to provide funding for the Iron Dome.”
Pfluger (R-TX) 9/22: Tweet – “Yesterday, Democrats refused to replenish funds for Israel’s Iron Dome defense system that has saved countless Israeli and Palestinian lives. Why is this party intent on turning their backs on our allies?”
Pfluger (R-TX) 9/22: Tweet – “This is what Democrats opposed. Countless Israeli AND Palestinian lives have been saved by the Iron Dome defense system. Their opposition is as immoral as it is radical.”
Pfluger (R-TX) 9/21: Tweet – “Democrats don’t support the Iron Dome anymore. Does that mean they want rockets to hit civilians? This party gets more radical by the day.”
Pfluger (R-TX) 9/21: Tweet – “Democrats just caved to AOC and her progressive Squad, pulling funding from the Iron Dome…effectively abandoning our greatest ally in the Middle East. The Iron Dome is a defensive system and has saved countless lives in Israel from Hamas’ rocket attacks.”
Phillips (D-MN) 9/21: Tweet – “I’m always troubled by use of force, whether by Israel or our own country. But Iron Dome protects Israel from indiscriminate rockets and missiles fired by sworn enemies who refuse to even recognize their right to exist.”
Quigley (R-IL) 9/23: Tweet – “The United States’ relationship with Israel is critical to the futures of both our nations. I was proud to vote today to support Israel’s security and provide $1 billion for their Iron Dome.”
Quigley (D-IL) 9/22: Tweets (compiled)- “Last night, @HouseDemocrats passed a CR to keep the government funded and prevent us from defaulting. Let me be clear: We did NOT defund ‘Iron Dome’ or withdraw from our commitments to Israel in any way. What Republicans wanted to do would not have restored any funding for Iron Dome. Instead, it would’ve killed the entire bill, potentially shutting down the government and blocking any funding for Israel and our other allies. Majority Leader @StenyHoyer has announced that we will vote on a standalone bill to provide $1B for Iron Dome later this week. I will proudly vote for that measure when the time comes.”
Reschenthaler (R-PA) 9/22: Tweet – “Join me for an inside look into the Rules Committee this week. From a last-minute Democrat push to remove Iron Dome funding for Israel, endangering one of our greatest allies, to my amendments that will be included in this year’s NDAA.”

Rouzer (R-NC) 9/23: Tweet – “Just voted in support of Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system that radical House Democrats tried to defund earlier this week. I’m proud to defend the strong partnership between the US and our ally Israel.”
Rouzer (R-NC) 9/21: Tweet – “The decision to pull funding from the Iron Dome is another example of House Democrats caving to their radical members who want to take away Israel’s ability to defend itself from terrorists. America must always stand strong with Israel!”
Roy (R-TX) 9/23: Tweet – “Love watching @StenyHoyer attempting to make a case for Iron Dome and standing with Israel after full capitulation to the radical left and pulling funding for Iron Dome from the CR. Which is it? #StandWithIsrael”
Roy (R-TX) 9/21: Tweet – “Litmus test for @HouseDemocrats – will you allow the radical left of your party to coerce you to abandon Israel and its successful Iron Dome system? Americans – call your Representative and ask. #StandWithIsrael”
Salazar (R-FL) 9/23: Tweet – “Rashida Tlaib’s anti-semitic comments against Israel are blatant and dangerous lies. This is false propaganda coming from a congresswoman on the floor of the House of Representatives. The majority stands with Israel. Those that don’t are a small minority and need to be weeded out”
Salazar (R-FL) 9/23: Tweet – “Proud to have voted YES to support Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, and am grateful that the bill passed with overwhelming bipartisan support. Today should serve as a reminder — the loudest voices rarely represent the majority. The US will always #StandWithIsrael!”
Scalise (R-LA) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “Mr. Speaker, I thank my friend from Tennessee for yielding and especially for his passion, the statements that he just made, and the importance of not only standing up for Israel, which we all need to do, but standing up against anti-Semitism, against the kind of attacks on Israel that the very Iron Dome are necessary for. The Iron Dome represents one of those great partnerships between our two great nations, this great bond between the United States and Israel, allowing Israel to defend themselves, defend themselves against attacks from Gaza, against attacks from terrorists who want to destroy Israel as a Jewish state. That is what this has always been about. It had been heartening for decades that this was always a bipartisan issue. We shouldn’t have to be here today to pass this bill because it should have been passed on Tuesday. There was a vote on the House floor to ensure Israel had the money to defend themselves, to put that billion dollars back in. On a straight party-line vote, every Democrat voted it down. I don’t know why on Tuesday they were against Israel’s Iron Dome’s defense. Today, maybe things will change. Hopefully, things will change. But we ought to always stand with Israel, and especially with what their Iron Dome represents. I have been to Israel. I have been to areas where the Iron Dome is actually utilized effectively to save Jewish lives, to save everybody’s life who lives in Israel, whether it is Jews, Palestinians. Anyone who lives in Israel under threat of terrorist attack can at least have some solace at knowing that the Iron Dome is there to protect them. Thousands of rockets were fired into Israel by terrorists, and that is why we need to put this billion dollars in place to allow them to replenish the Iron Dome missiles that saved lives in Israel. Save lives in Israel, that is what this is about. We should be with Israel, not just on Thursday. We should also be with them on Tuesday, on Monday. Every single day, we need to stand with our ally Israel against attacks that we see from anti-Semites
around the world.”
Scalise (R-LA) 9/23: Tweet – “REMINDER: On Tuesday, so-called “moderate” Democrats caved to the anti-Semitic left and refused to stand with Israel by gutting funding for Iron Dome. Supporting Israel shouldn’t be partisan. Just more proof that the Democrat Party is now completely controlled by radicals.”
Scalise (R-LA) 9/22: Tweet – “Let’s be clear: Dems are aiding terrorists. First they handed the Taliban tens of billions of dollars in military equipment. And yesterday, they cut Iron Dome funding—which protects Israel from terrorists—from their spending bill. They’re putting our national security at risk.”
Scalise (R-LA) 9/21: Tweet – “Some House Democrats hate Israel so much that they’re refusing to pass their own spending bill if it includes funding for the Iron Dome—which protects our ally from terrorists. This is how radical they’ve become.”
Schneider (D-IL) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “Mr. Speaker, 30 years ago in the Gulf war, Israel endured 31 scud missile strikes from Iraq; its population effectively defenseless. Fifteen years ago in the second Lebanon war, Hezbollah fired 4,000 rockets at Israel in 34 days. Again, Israel had no active defense. Five months ago over the course of just 11 days, Hamas and other terrorist groups in Gaza launched more than 4,500 rockets at Israel, but because of Iron Dome, Israel is no longer defenseless. Iron Dome has saved lives both Israeli and Palestinian. America’s commitment to Iron Dome is rock solid. Today’s vote will make that clear in spite that some on both sides of the aisle will seek to make Israel and our unyielding support for the U.S.-Israel relationship a wedge issue. There are so many reasons for hope in the region. Israel has a new
government with the broadest imaginable governing coalition, including Arab parties. Israelis and Palestinians are talking to each other again. The Abraham Accords are changing the dynamic between Israel and her Arab neighbors. Progress in all these areas starts with and depends on security…Progress in all these areas starts with and depends on security, and security starts with and relies on Iron Dome funding. I urge my colleagues to join me in supporting this critical funding
and hope the Senate will take it up immediately.”
Schneider (D-IL) 9/23: Tweet – “America’s commitment to Iron Dome is rock solid. Today’s vote will make that clear—despite some on both sides of the aisle who seek to make Israel and our unyielding support of Israel a wedge issue.”
Schrier (D-WA) 9/23: Tweet – “I just voted to support funding for the Iron Dome, a system that saves lives. After over 3,000 rockets were launched at Israel in the recent conflict, this funding is critical to Israel’s right to self defense. I hope my colleagues in the Senate will take this up immediately.”
Scott (R-FL) 9/23: Tweet – “Democrats have become the anti-Israel Party. You can’t make this stuff up. They are willing to turn their backs on our ally and revoke funding to defend innocent civilians.”
Scott (R-FL) 9/21: Tweet – “When Hamas attacked, Democrats were silent. They’ll spend trillions on failed policy, but when it comes to protecting our ally they cower to disgusting, anti-Israel “progressive” rhetoric. The Iron Dome protects civilians. Democrats’ failure to support Israel only helps Hamas.”
Scott (R-GA) 9/22: Tweet – “The Iron Dome protects Israeli civilians from TERRORIST rockets. Democrats who don’t support the Iron Dome missile defense system just want an excuse to bash Israel as racist when Israel is forced to respond to Hamas rockets killing Jewish civilians.”
Scott (R-GA) 9/21: Tweet – “Why does the Democratic Party let the anti-Semitic faction exercise control so much so that they strip funding for the Iron Dome defensive weapons system that protects Israeli civilians from terrorists’ rockets? That system saves countless lives. I firmly stand with Israel.”
Scott (R-SC) 9/22: Tweet – “The Iron Dome saves the lives of ALL people who live in Israel. It’s a key defense measure that has long enjoyed bipartisan support… Until yesterday, when Democrats slashed funding for one of our strongest allies to appease their far-Left base.”
Scott (R-SC) 9/22: Tweet – “The Iron Dome is crucial to protecting our allies in Israel from terrorists’ rockets. Democrats’ continued lack of support for Israel shows just how radical they’ve become.”
Schneider (D-IL) 9/21: Tweet – “4400 rockets were fired against Israel last spring. Iron Dome defended Israel, saving lives on both sides of the border. The U.S. stood by Israel then, and we stand with Israel now. I supported Iron Dome funding in the CR. I will make sure that Iron Dome is funded this year.”
Schweikert (R-AZ) 9/21: Tweet – “The @HouseDemocrats just pulled $1 billion in crucial funding for the Iron Dome. Progressives would rather let government funding lapse then stand with our ally Israel.”
Shelby (R-AL) 9/21: Tweet – “@LeaderMcConnell and I have introduced a CR package that would extend government funding, provide much-needed disaster relief, and deliver targeted Afghan assistance – tackling our most urgent priorities”. (text)
Sherman (D-CA) 9/23: Tweet – “A great victory for the US-Israel alliance. House votes to replenish Iron Dome. Supported by 96% of Democrats and 99% of Republicans. The most bi-partisan vote this year.”
Sherman (D-CA) 9/22: Tweet – “I’m pleased we will vote on a separate Iron Dome bill soon. I am confident it will pass by a wide margin— as it should. Iron Dome saves lives.”
Simpson (R-ID) 9/23: Tweet – “I am proud to support Israel’s right to defend itself – that is why I voted to pass critical funds for the Iron Dome. This defense system has saved countless lives! I hope the Senate will act quickly and honor our commitment to the Israeli people. #StandwithIsrael”
Slotkin (D-MI) 9/21: Factually INCORRECT thread on Iron Dome (compiled) – “I understand that some House Democrats object to funding for the Iron Dome in Israel. Just to level-set, a few facts. Iron Dome is a purely *defensive* system — it protects civilians when hundreds of rockets are shot at population centers. Whatever your views on the Israeli-Pal conflict, using a system that just saved hundreds, if not thousands, of lives as a political chit is problematic. Iron Dome, like other missile defense systems, was co-developed by the US and Israel. The research that went into the design of this system is shared between our two countries and can be used to protect our bases abroad, in addition to Israeli civilians in their homes. Continued financial support of Iron Dome was part of the 2016 Memorandum of Understanding negotiated by President Obama. This isn’t new funding, or unusual funding, or a precipitous increase in funding. All of this is publicly-available information. So to target Iron Dome now means the issue isn’t a genuine concern over the system, but rather the desire to attack something – anything – related to the State of Israel; it’s devoid of substance and irresponsible.”
Soto (D-FL) 9/23: Tweet – “Today I cast a YES vote for @HouseDemocrats’ $1B funding bill for Israel’s Iron Dome program. We will continue to support a strong US-Israel relationship and save lives.”
Steel (R-CA) 9/23: Tweet – “The Iron Dome is a purely defensive system, co-developed by the U.S., and has saved countless civilian lives. I’m proud to vote yes on the $1 billion appropriations bill to continue this critical funding for our close ally. #StandWithIsrael”
Steel (R-CA) 9/21: Tweet – “Israel is our strongest ally in the Middle East & the Iron Dome has saved thousands of civilian lives. @HouseGOP stands with Israel.”
Stefanik (R-NY) 9/22: Statement – ““This week, we witnessed Nancy Pelosi cave to the Anti-Semitic requests of her most radical members…It is unacceptable that House Democrats would be willing to deny funding for Israel’s purely defensive system that saves innocent lives from Hamas terrorists’ indiscriminate rocket attacks. While the Far-Left Squad would abandon our ally and align themselves with international terrorist organizations and the Iranian regime, I am proud stand [sic] with Israel.”
Stefanik (R-NY) 9/22: Tweet – “House Democrats ABANDONED our ally. I will stand with Israel.”
Stefanik (R-NY) 9/21: Press release – “Stefanik Opposes Raising Debt Limit to Fund Democrats’ Far-Left Agenda” [“House Democrats have failed to do their job. Instead of responsibly funding the government, they have chosen to prioritize their Far-Left Socialist wish list. Nancy Pelosi has even caved to her own party’s radical, Anti-Semitic request to remove funding for Israel’s Iron Dome, a purely defensive system that protects our ally from Hamas’ rocket attacks. House Democrats’ funding crisis is of their own making, but they still want Congress to write them a blank check and raise the debt ceiling to pay for their $3.5 trillion Socialist wish list. This reckless spending will only bankrupt our future generations. I refuse to bow to Democrats’ partisan games at the expense of our nation’s future.”]
Stefanik (R-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “Democrats continue to be the party attacking Israel and their inherent right to self-defense. Republicans stand strongly with Israel and support #IronDome”
Stefanik (R-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “Israel has a right to self-defense. Support the Iron Dome!”
Stefanik (R-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “House Republicans stand with Israel.”
Stefanik (R-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “Democrats do NOT support Israel. Instead they choose to side with the Hamas Caucus wing of their Party. Republicans strongly support our ally Israel and #IronDome funding.”
Stefanik (R-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “The Iron Dome saves lives. I support the Iron Dome. I stand with Israel.”
Stefanik (R-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “Israel’s Iron Dome saves lives from Hamas’ rocket attacks. Why would Democrats refuse to stand with our ally?”
Steil (R-WI) 9/21: Tweet – “The Iron Dome missile defense system protects innocent lives in Israel from rocket attacks conducted by terrorists. Today, Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats sided with radicals in Congress and removed vital funding for this lifesaving defense system.”
Steube (R-FL) 9/21: Tweet – “In the same week the administration sent $64 million to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, House Democrats voted to take over $1 billion from Israel’s Iron Dome. The left is supporting terrorists while abandoning our allies.”’
Stevens (D-MI) 9/23: Tweet – “Today I was proud to vote to pass bipartisan legislation to help fund the Iron Dome, a proven life-saving defense system for our allies in Israel. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to pass this important funding immediately.”
Stevens (D-MI) 9/23: Tweet – “I stand with Israel as a democracy and ally of the United States. I am always proud to be part of bi-partisan efforts that foster national security and economic development at home and abroad.”
Stewart (R-UT) 9/21: Tweet – “Politics are supposed to stop at the water’s edge, and this is exactly why. Defunding the Iron Dome endangers Israel, our greatest ally in the region, and empowers terrorists. This is inexcusable.”
Suozzi (D-NY) 9/23: Tweets (compiled)- “We must support the replenishment of funding for the Israeli defensive system – the Iron Dome. I have fought to fully find it, and today I proudly voted in support of the replenishment of funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile-defense system. Iron Dome saves civilian lives. I am and will always be an ardent supporter of Israel, and will stand against anyone, even members of my own party, in defense of our close ally.”
Suozzi (D-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “We must support the replenishment of funding for the Israeli defensive system – Iron Dome. One of our closest allies uses this system to save civilian lives. Democratic Majority Leader Steny Hoyer will bring up the funding bill this week and I will support it!”
Swalwell (D-CA) 9/21: Tweet – “I support funding Israel’s right to defend itself from terrorist attacks via Iron Dome as much as I support robust funding for the Palestinian people. It’s our job as leaders in Congress to find a way to make sure we do all we can to stabilize the Middle East.”
Tenney (R-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “Speaker Pelosi just caved to progressive activists and stripped $1 BILLION is security assistance to Israel from the CR. House Democrats, led by the Squad, now oppose Israel’s right to self-defense. This is the most radical Democratic Party in our lifetime.”
Tiffany (R-WI) 9/21: Tweet – “Unfortunate to see @SpeakerPelosi cave to the Hamas fan club and de-fund Israel’s Iron Dome. #StandWithIsrael”
Tlaib (D-MI) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “Mr. Speaker, I rise in opposition to this supplemental. I will not support an effort to enable and support war crimes, human
rights abuses, and violence. We cannot continue talking only about Israeli’s need for safety at a
time when Palestinians are living under a violent apartheid system and are dying from what Human Rights Watch has said are war crimes. We should also be talking about the Palestinian need for security from Israeli attacks. We must be consistent in our commitment to human life, period. Everyone deserves to be safe there. The bill claims to be ‘a replenishment’ for weapons apartheid Israel used in a crisis it manufactured when it attacked worshippers at one of the most holiest Islamic locations, al-Aqsa Mosque, committing, again, numerous war crimes. Yet, $1 billion in American taxpayer dollars that my colleagues want to give represents, to me, an absurd and unjustifiable 140 times increase to U.S. funding for the Iron Dome. I firmly believe our country must oppose selling weapons to anyone anywhere without human rights law compliance. The Israeli Government is an apartheid regime–not my words, the words of Human Rights Watch and Israel’s own human rights organization B’Tselem. Mr. Speaker, I urge my colleagues: Please stand with me in supporting human rights for all. I include in the Record this Human Rights Watch article.
Tlaib (D-MI) 9/23: Tweet – “I will not support a standalone supplemental bill of $1 billion to replenish the bombs Israel used to commit war crimes in Gaza.”
Tlaib (D-MI) 9/22: Tweet – “I plan on casting a no vote. We must stop enabling Israel’s human rights abuses and apartheid government.”
Ritchie (D-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “A missile defense system (i.e. Iron Dome) defends civilians from missiles. Hence the name. Only in a morally inverted universe would this be considered a ‘controversy.’”
Valadao (R-CA) 9/21: Tweets (compiled) – “By forcing the inclusion of the debt limit suspension in the CR, the Majority has yet again refused to develop a bipartisan bill that both sides of the aisle could support in order to prevent a costly government shutdown. The Majority caved to their progressive caucus & stripped funding from the CR for repairs on Israel’s Iron Dome, the system that was critical in helping Israel defend against terrorist group Hamas. I did not support this bill. Of all the things for the Majority to cut, it is appalling for them to strip out funding for a defense system that solely exists to stop rockets from killing innocent lives in one of our greatest allies. I stand with Israel.”
Van Duyne (R-TX) 9/21: Tweet – “After arming the enemies of Israel with $85 billion worth of weapons, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi leave Israel defenseless against rocket attacks from all sides. Hell of a way to treat our most important ally in the Middle East. #StandWithIsrael”
Van Duyne (R-TX) 9/21: Tweet – “After pushback from @AOC and the ‘squad,’ House Democrats pulled money for Israel’s Iron Dome. Once again, Pelosi caved to the radical socialists in her party. It is clear who is in charge of the Democrats.”
Veasey (D-TX) 9/23: Tweet – “The Iron Dome is a purely defensive system that saves countless Israeli and Palestinian lives. Today, I was proud to vote on legislation to ensure that Israel has the means to continue to defend itself and protect its civilians.”
Wagner (R-MO) 9/21: Tweet – “Democrats are cutting funding for Israel’s Iron Dome, the civilian defense system that has saved thousands of innocent lives from terrorist rocket attacks. I unapologetically #StandWithIsrael and will push back against these radical agendas.”
Walberg (R-MI) 9/21: Tweet – “Not long ago, standing with Israel was bipartisan. Now Speaker Pelosi chooses to appease the radical left rather than support Israel and its Iron Dome defense system. Shameful.”
Waltz (R-FL) 9/2: Tweet – “The #HamasCaucus is once again undermining our ally Israel as progressives have withdrawn their support for the CR due to $1 billion in Iron Dome funding.”
Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323 – “Mr. Speaker, I rise in strong support of the Iron Dome Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2022, which I was proud to
help bring to the floor today. The United States has long supported critical funding to help our
democratic ally, Israel, protect herself by herself. During my trips to Israel, I have been privileged to spend hours meeting with families living near the border with Gaza who huddle in bomb shelters designed to dually function as schools. There you can see Israel’s geographic vulnerability firsthand and clearly understand the urgency of securing this replenishment funding for Israel’s highly effective Iron Dome missile defense program. Israel relies on the Iron Dome to defend her citizens against incoming rocket fire from terrorist groups like Hamas, Islamic jihad,
and Hezbollah. Earlier this year when terrorist groups fired 4,500 rockets at Israel’s population centers in just 11 days, the Iron Dome effectively intercepted 90 percent of those rockets, saving innocent Israeli and Palestinian lives. The system also maintains regional stability by preventing dangerous escalation. For these reasons, I know I will continue to use my vote and my voice to maintain our Nation’s ironclad commitment to Israel’s security, including maintaining her qualitative military edge, especially against emerging terrorist threats. This is a defense system. Its whole purpose is to stop violence and save lives. By supporting this program, you are promoting peace. I am proud to have worked on a strategy with other pro-Israel Democrats and our House leadership to ensure there is no question about our commitment to the safety and security of our closest ally in the Middle East, Israel. I urge the United States Senate to take up this urgent funding bill immediately to defend our ally Israel and increase prospects for peace
and avoid the CR debt-limit debate. I thank the chair for bringing this important legislation to the floor.
Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) 9/23: Tweet – “I proudly worked w/other pro-Israel Democrats & House leaders to reaffirm our commitment to Israel’s safety & security, our closest Mid East ally. #IronDome is a defense system. It promotes peace + saves innocent lives. The Senate must now replenish Iron Dome funding.”
Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) 9/23: Tweet – “Proud to work w/ my pro-Israel colleagues to spearhead legislative efforts to replenish the #IronDome missile defense system. This critical funding helps Israel defend herself, by herself.” [with video clip of DWS on the House floor]
Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) 9/21: Tweet – “I helped spearhead the legislative effort to replenish
@Israel’s highly effective #IronDome Missile Defense program. The US has long supported critical funding to help our ally protect herself, by herself. A vote is imminent.”
Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) 9/21: Tweet – “As @Israel’s staunch ally and friend, replenishing #IronDome funding ASAP is absolutely essential. I am confident that @HouseDemocrats
will ensure its passage and I will work hard to achieve that critical goal.”
Webster (R-FL) 9/23: Tweet – “Just voted to pass H.R. 5323. The Iron Dome, Israel’s missile defense system protects countless innocent lives. I #StandwithIsrael – our strongest and longest-lasting democracy in the Middle East and our closest ally in the region.”
Wild (D-PA) 9/23: Tweet – “Just voted to continue funding Israel’s Iron Dome, a defensive system that saves countless civilian lives every year. The Senate should take this up immediately.”
Williams (R-TX) 9/23: Tweet – “The Iron Dome saves countless civilian lives everyday & ensures Israel can defend herself against terrorist attacks. I’m proud to support our ally by voting YES on the $1 billion Iron Dome Appropriations Act, and reject Democrats’ efforts to undermine Israel’s security.”
Williams (R-TX) 9/21: Tweet – “Democrats’ are holding up their own funding bill because the radical left wants to prevent $1b from going to Israel’s Iron Dome. They want to make it easier for Islamic terrorists to kill innocent civilians by taking away Israel’s most critical line of defense.”
Williams (R-TX) 9/21: Tweet – “Anti-Israel Democrats’ just stripped Iron Dome funding from the CR. They would rather embolden terrorists than protect innocent civilians.”
Williams (R-TX) 9/21: Tweet – “Republicans STAND with Israel and their right to self-defense.”
Wilson (R-SC) 9/23 – Floor statement on HR 5323 – “Mr. Speaker, I want to commend Chairman
Ted Deutch. I am grateful to be the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Middle East, North Africa, and Global Counterterrorism. I appreciate his heartfelt comments. I also have been to Sderot, and I have seen the example of the terrorist rocket attacks by Hamas from Gaza with Iranian rockets. I have seen the effect on mothers and families. And so this is something that should be addressed, and I appreciate Mr. Hoyer bringing it up. That, indeed, 4,400 rockets, 400 a day. A reason for that is the weakness of the Biden-Harris government. They are putting the people of Israel at risk. And then I also believe that what we see with Mr. Hoyer, he is being
undercut. And I sympathize with him that his political party, the Democratic Party, has become under the influence, extraordinary, bizarre influence of a group of anti-Semites, who also hate the State of Israel. It is very clear, as we saw a few minutes ago, right here, how horrible this is. In fact, this vote is to cover the mistake of the Democratic Party…Mr. Speaker, I will vote in favor of
the bill. But this is really a cover by the Democratic Party of the far left movement of their party abandoning the people of Israel. And so I urge a `yes’ vote. But this is clearly just to cover a
horrible mistake. It is worse than a mistake, a bowing down of extremists within the Democratic Party.”
Wilson (R-SC) 9/21: Tweet – “I stand in full support of our crucial ally Israel and its right to defend itself from terrorist attacks. The Democrats’ decision to remove funding for the Iron Dome air defense system will only increase instability in the region and leave Israel’s citizens vulnerable to attack.”
Wittman (R-VA) 9/21: Tweet – “The Iron Dome is a purely defensive system. Why are House Democrats opposed to Israel protecting civilians from rocket attacks?”
Womack (R-NY) 9/23: Floor statement on HR 5323: “Mr. Speaker, I rise this afternoon in steadfast support of this supplemental and of Israel. In the same week President Biden pledged to stand with our allies, his Democrat counterparts removed critical defense resources for our longstanding ally and friend. We shouldn’t be surprised, given the openly anti-Semitic sentiments and comparisons of Israel and America to terrorist organizations expressed by some on the other side. The State of Israel has the right to exist free of terror. This point should not be controversial. The bill is simple. As evidenced by the colloquy just a minute ago, it replenishes the defensive Iron Dome system. I will say it again. It replenishes a defensive system. The Iron Dome has no offensive capability, and yet there are still members on the Democrat side of the aisle who oppose it. It was that opposition, Mr. Speaker, that delayed proceedings in this very Chamber on Tuesday,
forcing leadership to pull Iron Dome from the continuing resolution, so they could have the votes to pass. Interestingly, we didn’t see the same visceral reaction to leaving more than a billion dollars’ worth of artillery in the hands of terrorists in Afghanistan, as we are seeing with this defensive system. They are openly opposing a capability that protects women and children from terrorist rocket attacks. In the words of our own Speaker, it is about the children. Earlier this year, Hamas and other terrorist organizations launched more than 4,000 rockets at Israeli civilians. We are talking about children and families simply trying to live their lives. I hope this bill passes without opposition. That, Mr. Speaker, should be the standard. I urge each and every one of my colleagues to support this bill.”
Womack (R-NY) 9/23: Tweet – “I steadfastly support Israel’s Iron Dome defense system and right to exist free from terror. Radical House Dems are openly opposing a capability that protects children and families from terrorist rocket attacks. @HouseGOP stands with our ally. My speech: https://bit.ly/3lR6Mbs”
Womack (R-AR) 9/21: Tweet – “Postponed votes all day—NOT bc Dems decided to address the border crisis, prioritize fiscal sanity, or call for accountability in Afghanistan. But bc Speaker Pelosi has been negotiating with the radical left to strip our ally Israel of critical self-defense resources. She caved.”
Zeldin (R-NY) 9/23: Tweet – “Only in the warped mind of a radical, who would be thrilled with wiping Israel off the map, would support for Iron Dome (an entirely defensive system that protects innocent civilians from enemy attack) be equated with supporting war crimes, human rights abuses and violence.” With clip of Tlaib (D-MI) speaking on the House floor.
Zeldin (R-NY) 9/21: Tweet – “The Iron Dome exists to defend civilians inside our nation’s great ally, Israel, against offensive air strikes. It’s very telling that the “squad” and their allies despise it so much.”
Zeldin (R-NY) 9/21: press release – Rep. Zeldin Statement on House Democrats Removing Iron Dome Funding from Government Funding Measure
