ActiveStills was established in 2005 by a group of documentary photographers out of a strong conviction that photography is a vehicle for social change. The photographers at ActiveStills cover a broad range of resistance to injustice in Israel and Palestine – including popular protests, the siege on Gaza, and women’s rights – with a core commitment to Palestinians’ struggle for rights and freedom. Activestills’ documentary photographs are widely published by both mainstream and specialized media outlets as well as development, advocacy, and human rights organizations. Activestills’ photographs tell the stories of Palestinians’ efforts to stay on their land and achieve their rights, and the stories of struggles in both Israel and Palestine for human rights, human dignity, and democratic norms, in a way that no other medium can transmit.
